2024 Ford Bronco is a great choice for those who like to play in muddy areas. In addition, the Ford Bronco is Ford’s response to the long-standing dominance of the Jeep Wrangler. The Bronco, like the Jeep, is available in two- and four-door configurations, with an optional manual transmission and four-wheel drive.

The 2024 Ford Bronco comes with plenty of power thanks to a 300 hp turbocharged inline-four engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission or an optional seven-speed manual transmission. A more powerful engine is the 330-hp twin-turbo V-6. The Bronco Raptor, which we reviewed separately, has 418 horsepower but is a completely different beast.

The Ford Bronco has a tough control room and is easy to clean. The 2024 Ford Bronco is easy to drive on the road between campgrounds, proving to be a fun lifestyle car and a proper rock crawler’s gear.

The off-road experience has seen a resurgence in recent years. This could be due to several new cars capable of traversing off-road terrain, or it could be because many people have been confined during the pandemic.

2024 Ford Bronco Review

We firmly believe that the 2024 Ford Bronco is undoubtedly Ford’s most captivating SUV, combining SUV functionality with all-terrain capability, open-top fun and cool retro looks. The original Bronco was one of Ford’s earliest SUVs and was produced in various variants until the early 1990s.

Ford announced a Bronco revival for 2021, offering it in two- and four-door variants with I-4 and V-6 powertrains. The Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4Runner are its competitors.

The Broncos lineup for 2024 is unchanged from last year. The Bronco 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor R now has a new Code Orange kit that includes orange accents and attractive orange graphics on the rear doors, side panels, and windows.

The 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor R now comes in Shelter Green and Velocity Blue paint schemes. The previously available 12-inch touchscreen is now standard, and the Everglades trim returns (production is discontinued midway through the 2023 model year).

The 2024 Ford Bronco is already one of the best off-road SUVs, but it’s not without its flaws, which we cover in detail in our Expert Ratings below. Even against strong competitors like the Jeep Wrangler, Land Rover Defender, and Toyota 4Runner, you really can’t do much better if you want to venture into the wild.

Some may be disappointed with the Bronco’s cheap-looking interior materials, especially on higher-end models, but others may realize the value of long-term durability when the interior is exposed to the weather. The Bronco offers more off-road hardware across its price range than the Jeep Wrangler, giving consumers more options at different price points.

However, keep in mind that our test car was a First Edition Bronco which costs over $60,000. That’s a pretty steep price, but fortunately it includes almost all of the Bronco’s standard and optional features.

With a standard three-year/36,000-mile warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, the warranty and ownership benefits are about the same. In addition, the corrosion warranty is valid for five years regardless of mileage, and roadside assistance is available for the same amount of time or 60,000 miles.

Ford Bronco Refresh

We see that the 2024 Ford Bronco has so much personality and potential that it’s hard not to like it. This car looks fantastic, incorporating influences from its predecessors in a thoroughly modern approach. The interior is modern too, with elements like exposed screws and additional switches proving both functional and beautiful.

When the road ends, the 2024 Ford Bronco keeps going. The vehicle can handle difficult terrain thanks to standard four-wheel drive and G.O.A.T. mode. However, on the road, we found the Bronco unrefined, with an unsettled and guttural ride.

Its brick-like shape doesn’t help fuel economy. While we enjoyed the cabin, some poor interior finishes detracted from the experience.

There’s no shortage of crossovers to choose from if you want a practical, comfortable, and efficient vehicle for everything (the dashing Bronco Sport is no exception). The Bronco isn’t one of them, and that’s the point – it’s designed specifically for off-road enjoyment, unlike other SUVs. Except for one thing.

2024 Ford Bronco Interior

The New 2024 Ford Bronco, which comes with two or 2024 Ford Bronco 4 Door, a softtop or hardtop, and removable body panels, offers the same open-air capabilities as the Wrangler. Ford’s interior is also more innovative than Jeep’s. The Bronco, for example, has a shelf built into the top of its dashboard that allows iPhones and GoPros to be placed.

The car also has frameless doors that are easily removable. Its long side glass, on the other hand, can catch weatherstripping and let wind noise into the cabin. Even so, the four-door vehicle with its extended wheelbase has enough capacity to store all four doors.

Since the exterior mirrors are mounted at the base of the windshield, they can be used even when the doors are removed. The cabin can be protected from the elements by using the available rubber flooring and marine-grade vinyl upholstery. Those looking for a more luxurious ambiance can opt for leather upholstery surfaces, although the vast expanse of plastic on the interior seems cheap on higher trims.

Even on the two-door Bronco, there is enough space in the back seat for two adults. Four-door models have a third center seat in the back and a little extra legroom, but most of the extra length is used for the cargo compartment, which is more than 50% larger than the two-door.

The difference in passenger room between the two- and four-door Broncos is less than an inch. The four-door variant, on the other hand, has a higher load capacity, which varies depending on the arrangement.

Connectivity and infotainment

The 12.0-inch touchscreen set in the middle of the Bronco’s dashboard is powered by Ford’s latest in-dash Sync 4 software. The configuration supports over-the-air upgrades and can wirelessly connect to the cloud and the user’s smartphone. The infotainment system also supports a slew of current amenities, including as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. Optional features such as built-in navigation and a more powerful B&O stereo can also be added to the unit.


Ford has dropped the 8.0-inch central touchscreen in favor of a 12.0-inch one that is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Pre-wired auxiliary switches are installed on the dashboard for off-road driving aficionados, making installation of aftermarket accessories easier. There are built-in trail maps and a 360-degree camera. A six-speaker audio system is standard, and higher trims get a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium arrangement.


Because the 2024 Ford Bronco is larger than the Wrangler, it has a larger interior and more cargo space. The four-door Bronco, however, has slightly less capacity than the similarly sized Toyota 4Runner. The rear swing gate on the Bronco opens to the passenger side and is held in place by a strut. The back glass on hardtop versions folds up easily, but the soft top does not open as far and requires a prop rod to stay up.

Interior storage is ample, with plenty of cupholders and nooks and crannies for personal belongings. Most water bottles will not fit because the netting on the door pockets is too shallow. Some models have Molle-style attachment points for hanging equipment on the front seatbacks.

The Bronco can tow up to 3,500 pounds with an optional trailer hitch that has four- and seven-pin connectors. A trailer brake controller is not included but can be purchased as an add-on. Flat-towing (all four wheels on the ground) is possible with all Broncos.

Ford Bronco Hybrid 2024

2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid has made no secret of its electric goals, electrifying some of its most iconic nameplates to further that mission. Could an electrified 2024 Ford Bronco be on the road, following the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning? We anticipate a plug-in hybrid Bronco shortly, possibly in late 2024. It will very certainly be powered by Ford’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine and a 10-speed modular hybrid powertrain. The range of an all-electric vehicle might be roughly 30 kilometers. When the electrified Ford Bronco is released, it will compete with existing battery-powered off-road vehicles such as the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Rivian R1S, and Mercedes-EQ EQG.

2024 Ford Bronco Everglades or Sasquatch?

If the 2024 Ford Bronco isn’t capable enough as is, Ford offers a variety of upgrades to improve its off-road capabilities. The 2024 Ford Bronco Sasquatch package, which includes hardware such as 35-inch tires on beadlock-capable rims, height-raising suspension, locking front and rear axles, bigger fender flares, and other goodies, is one option. Another option is the Bronco Everglades, which expands on the Sasquatch package with wading-specific features such as a snorkel, higher axle air vents, and a built-in Warn winch.

2024 Ford Bronco Raptor

Following in the footsteps of the Ford F-150 Raptor super truck, the 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor enhances the Bronco’s rock-bashing capabilities. The chassis of the so-called Braptor is significantly altered, becoming substantially higher and wider. Suspension travel and wheel angles both rise as a result of this. Furthermore, the Braptor is outfitted with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that produces more power than any other Bronco. 2024 Ford Bronco Engine

Please accept my apologies. The 2024 Ford Bronco does not have eight cylinders. Instead, a conventional 300-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder or a 330-hp twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6 are available. A 10-speed automatic transmission is available for both gas engines, but a seven-speed manual transmission is only available for the smaller one. Sadly, neither engine has an enthralling soundtrack.

Power is sent to all four wheels on every Bronco, and its independent front suspension is more complex than Jeep’s front stick axle. 35-inch mud-terrain tires, beadlock-capable wheels, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and a sway-bar disconnect mechanism are all available. Following our initial impressions, the Bronco pleased us with its on-road finesse.

The Ford not only has more precise steering than the Wrangler, but it also handles better overall. Of course, with the widest tires and softest suspension, there is a significant braking dive, and the body-on-frame structure isn’t hidden. The Bronco, on the other hand, isn’t a one-trick pony, and it’s capable of traversing very dangerous terrain.


Whether you choose the turbo four-cylinder or the turbo V6, the Bronco has enough power for daily travel and a quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. The V6’s added power makes on-ramps and short merges smoother and more enjoyable, and the V6 Bronco accelerates to 60 mph from a standstill in 7.3 seconds, a respectable time given the huge tires and four-door design.

Jumping on the brakes causes a lot of nosedive, which is expected for off-road SUVs, but emergency stopping distances were considerably longer than we’d like. A panic stop from 60 mph required 146 feet — a typical distance for heavy-duty pickup trucks. It should be emphasized that our test Bronco had the Sasquatch off-road package and its hard tires, but other Broncos we’ve tested with less aggressive rubber only stopped 10 feet shorter — which is still longer than we’d like to see.

The steering is the true star. The Bronco’s steering wheel conveys confidence and steadiness to its driver at highway speeds thanks to independent front suspension. While bumpy routes are unlikely to provide excitement, you’ll enjoy that the handling on long-distance excursions will not tire you out.

2024 Ford Bronco Comfort

While far from a luxury car, the 2024 Ford Bronco is more comfortable on the road than its closest competitor, the Jeep Wrangler. The seats in the Bronco provide more support and adjustability, reducing fatigue on lengthy highway rides. Because of the truck-based architecture, the ride is harsher and more bouncy than in other SUVs, but not enough to make you want to drive it less.

The accessible and effective dual-zone temperature control allows you to modify the strength of the auto setting, and the heated front seats heat up quickly, which is great if you have the doors open on a cold day. The removable hardtop lets in a lot of wind noise at almost any speed, lowering the Bronco’s score in this category. Several rattles and vibrations were also heard and felt during our off-road testing.

2024 Ford Bronco Towing Capacity and Payload

The two- and four-door Ford Bronco versions are both rated to tow 3500 pounds, which is the same as the Jeep Wrangler.

2024 Ford Bronco MPG

The engine options available for the Ford Bronco 2024 remain the same. This comprises a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque on standard petrol and 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet on premium gas. It is mated to either a 10-speed automatic or a seven-speed manual transmission. We drove a manual transmission two-door Bronco to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds. The city/highway fuel economy should be 16-20/17-21 mpg.

The available 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 produces 315 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, or 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet on premium fuel. The tradeoff of the increased power is that this engine is only compatible with the 10-speed automatic transmission—no manual here. In our tests, a four-door Bronco equipped with this engine hit 60 mph in 8.3 seconds. It should achieve 17-18/17-20 mpg.

Ford Bronco Facelift

Information relating to the sixth generation Ford Bronco Facelift which is the Ranger’s twin was introduced in 2020 as a 2021 model. A mid-cycle overhaul is expected in 2025, while nothing is known regarding the facelift.

It’s also worth noting that no 2025 Ford Bronco prototypes have been photographed yet. Regardless, pixel painters continue to produce wildly inaccurate renditions of newcomers. The design study in the video below was done by Next-Gen Car, and the first thing that stands out is the FRONCD lettering on the radiator grille. How about a free AI art generator?

The top-hinged rear door displays unintelligible symbols. The rear lights, as well as the shape of the rear pillars and roof, are also deviated. The poor outlook on the 2025 Bronco has been described as misleading. It’s more of a crossover than a body-on-frame sports vehicle.

Considering carparazzi have yet to find a prototype in the wild, what kind of design changes might we expect? First and foremost, there’s no doubt that Dearborn’s beloved son will make slight changes to his trademark round headlights. Rather than a hatchback-style rear door, the pre-facelift Bronco’s side-hinged rear door will remain essentially intact due to the factory-issued spare wheel cover.

In terms of cabin, there is one thing that stands out: the infotainment system. SYNC 4A is standard on the 2024 Ford Ranger, while SYNC 4 is standard on the Ford Bronco 2024. As a general rule, SYNC 4A uses a portrait-oriented touchscreen rather than a landscape display like the SYNC 4. The 4 has touchscreen sizes ranging from 8 to 12 inches, while the 4A measures 12 to 15.5 inches.

There are increasing indications that the plug-in hybrid will join the 2.3-liter EcoBoost I4, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 and Raptor-only 3.0er engine options. Plug-in hybrids appear to be coming soon, from the EV Coaching feature yours truly detailed in July 2020 to Ford confirming new versions of the Bronco (and Maverick) as early as November 2023.

Considering Ford recently launched the Ranger PHEV for Europe, it’s only a matter of time before the Bronco can compete with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. On the other hand, the Bronco PHEV could be aimed at markets outside the United States.

The Ranger PHEV, which will go on sale in late 2024 for the 2025 model year, combines a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-pot turbo engine with an electric motor, high-voltage battery and the Ranger’s 10-speed automatic transmission. Under WLTP, Ford Motor Company targets a range of more than 45 kilometers (28 miles), which is more optimistic than the EPA’s mileage determination method.

With hybrid versions of the Maverick and F-150 already available, it wouldn’t make sense for the Dearborn-based automaker to market the Ranger PHEV in the United States. Alternatively, the Blue Oval might reconsider once the Jeep Gladiator 4xe is available in 2025.

2024 Ford Bronco Models

As of this writing, Ford has not provided official details on the entire 2024 Bronco lineup. If anything changes, we’ll update our recommendation, but based on last year’s Bronco, the Heritage Edition is our top selection in the lineup. The accompanying Sasquatch kit improves off-road capabilities, while the Mid package adds extra tech and safety measures. The retro-chic stylistic elements are a nice touch.

The Ford Bronco is a four-wheel-drive SUV with seven model levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and Everglades. Except for the Everglades, which is only available in four-door form, all are available in two-door or four-door configurations and may be outfitted with a plethora of options ranging from look and personalization options to alternative roofs to off-road hardware, wheels, and other extras. There’s also an eighth trim level called the Raptor, which adds a more powerful engine and a slew of off-road equipment.

The Bronco’s optional engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. It has a 10-speed automatic transmission.

All Broncos also include:

  • Automatic emergency braking (warns you if a frontal collision is impending and applies the brakes if you don’t reply quickly enough)
