We hope that the information we provide can help you and make our website become one of your sources in finding the latest car information. Happy nice day! There is something to be said for power and charisma. The 2018 Ford Focus ST can be just as old as the regular accent, sharing most of the same items that made this car lose a lot of its allure as the new competitors came along. This is certainly not the newest and hottest thing around over. Yet the focus St remains as much fun as ever, delivering exactly the same mix of performance, practicality and zest that first attracted us five years ago. It’s a cool car and will always be.
First and foremost, its 4-cylinder turbo engine of 252 horsepower continues to be a hoot, pushing you into the Recaro sports seats of the St in the air of a deep chirp. All this power goes through the front wheels only, which makes it a bit turbulent at times, but it’s part of the fun. We also like the six-speed manual transmission, but we recognize that the availability of a dual automatic clutch (such as the Volkswagen DSG transmission) would broaden its audience. Then there is the entertaining direction and handling of St. Yes, it’s fun to go quickly in a straight line, but the St has licked angles, too.
As for the disadvantages, the TK relates mainly to those inherent in the regular focus design. The back seat is cramped, and the Tech base interface is behind the Times. The quality of the cabin is not as impressive as it once was and is overshadowed by the Volkswagen and Honda competition. These gripped Recaro seats can also be too restrictive for larger-than-average drivers.
In total, however, the 2018 Focus ST must be on the shopping list for anyone looking for a powerful and charismatic car with a lot of practicality at a reasonable price. It was great five years ago and it’s still great today.
2018 Ford Focus ST Interior
The photos here reveal absolutely nothing on the inside, but even if they did, they would not be representative of the inside, we will see in the next-GEN focus. Given the grouped nature of the body, this mule probably has a carcass interior-one that is probably modified from the current generation to make the car legal road for testing purposes.
When we get new snapshots from within, expect to see a central console update, instrument cluster update, and a larger info-entertainment screen. The technology will probably be tied with the features available for other cars in the same segment with the 2018 Focus hits dealers.
2018 Ford Focus ST Engine
We only get a quick glance at the engine bay photos, but I have reason to believe that Ford can test a new engine with this mule. I came to this conclusion by comparing the motor cover and the location of the oil cap in the images. That motor cover looks like the Duratec motor cover on the 2015 Ford focus, but it has a noticeably different shape, and the oil cap is farther ahead and left of the oil cap on the current Focus transmission. Again, this could be an engine that is currently being used in other markets that I haven’t seen much of.
The current Ford Focus, here in the US can be had with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder, or a 2.3-liter four-cylinder, depending on the topping you are looking at. The 1.0-litre produces 123 horses and 125 pounds-feet of torque, while the 2.0-liter produces 160 horses and 146 pounds-feet of torque. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost in the St Hatch pumps on 252 horses and 270 pounds-feet of torque, and the 2.3-liter in the trap RS pumps off 350 ponies and 250 pounds-feet of torque.

If Ford continues with the same engines, expect low current pumps at all, except for the RS hatch. I suspect that 2.3-liter will remain intact for now. If Ford tests a new engine, expect to put it somewhere in the range of 170 horses and 150 pounds-feet. This output can be close to the current output of the 2.0-litre base, but the new engine will probably bring a better fuel economy.
2018 Ford Focus ST Price
In the United States, the current focus is available in eight different Trim levels. The base model S Sedan trim starts at $17 225, with prices climbing to $24 425 for the Focus ST and $35 730 for the trim-trim RS topping. There is no telling what Ford is going to do regarding the prices going for the next generation Ford, but if Ford brings a new chassis, rig, or a new engine to the table, expect to see a slight increase in pricing. The starting price can increase to as much as $18 000 after all is said and done.
