It is believed that the next generation of the Ford Super Duty will arrive during the calendar year 2019 as 2020 models and when they do, they will have a new look. When the 2020 Ford Super Duty debuts, it could be powered by a new 7.3-liter petrol V8. The current Super Duty lineup features a 6.2-liter V8 with 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The replacement for the current engine will almost certainly be more powerful and more efficient, so we could see the numbers of horsepower trailing well beyond the 400 marks, while the torque could climb closer to 500 lb-ft.
While these are not land-breaking numbers, they would take into account the significant improvements in both categories. More importantly, if Ford could get the output up to around 450 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque, the Super Duty would offer more power than any of the tough competitors. At this time, the RAM brand of 6.4 liters Hemi is the engine to beat, with that mill provide 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, so the torque advantage already belongs to Ford, but the gas engine of Super Duty could use more horsepower.
