All-New 2025 Ford Escape SUV Review, Pricing, and Specs

2025 Ford Escape was recently completely redesigned for the 2020 model year, but things move quickly in the automotive business, and the tiny crossover is already reaching a mid-cycle revision. According to Automotive News, Ford has some revisions planned for the 2023 Escape, which will debut in late 2022 before being redesigned in 2025.

This may appear abrupt, especially given that the Escape plug-in hybrid only debuted this year, following a delay caused by a series of Ford Kuga PHEV fires in Europe. However, the compact crossover sector is a very competitive market. While Escape sales increased by 21% in the second quarter of this year, it remains seventh in its segment, trailing the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, Chevrolet Equinox, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tuscon, and Subaru Forester.

The Ford Escape has a market share of 6%, which is 1% lower than the previous year and a long way behind the CR-V (16%), RAV4 (14%), and Rogue (12%). Furthermore, prior to the gain in Q2, Escape sales had fallen for ten straight quarters, despite the fact that it is one of the newest vehicles in its segment. Of course, low inventory hasn’t helped in recent months, since the chip scarcity has prompted FoMoCo to idle the Ford Louisville Assembly Plant, where the Escape and Lincoln Corsair are made.

The Corsair, which shares the Ford C2 Platform with the Escape, will also be refreshed for the 2023 model year. As previously revealed by Ford Authority, the 2023 Corsair will receive a slightly altered exterior appearance, as well as added electronics and amenities to help keep its cabin in line with rivals like the all-new 2022 Lexus NX.

2025 Ford Escape Review

2025 Ford Escape: In June, there were indications that the Ford Escape might face cancellation as the company shifted its focus to passion brands rather than commodity products. However, recent information from AutoForecast Solutions suggests that the Ford Escape will continue to exist in the form of an all-electric vehicle (EV) in the future.

According to a product roadmap, the current-generation Ford Escape will be manufactured until December 24th, 2025. After that, production will resume on January 5th, 2026, with the introduction of the Escape EV. The EV variant will be produced at the same Louisville Assembly plant as the internal combustion engine (ICE) model but will share Ford’s new GE2.1 dedicated EV platform with other vehicles such as the next-generation Ford Mustang Mach-E, Mach-E coupe, Ford Explorer, and Lincoln Aviator EVs. It’s worth noting that the Explorer and Aviator EVs will be manufactured at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada, rather than the Chicago Assembly plant where their ICE counterparts are produced.

One intriguing aspect of this development is that the Lincoln Corsair, which shares a platform with the Escape, is not mentioned in the roadmap, leaving its future uncertain for now.

Ford CEO Jim Farley has previously stated that future Ford EVs will not be mere electric versions of their ICE counterparts. This suggests that the next generation of Ford EVs will feature unique design elements. Additionally, there are reports of an upcoming “Explorer-like” EV, which could refer to either an Explorer EV or a similarly-sized and styled crossover.

Overall, while there were initial hints at the possibility of the Ford Escape’s cancellation, it now appears that the model will continue to thrive in the form of an all-electric variant. As Ford focuses on profitable second-generation EV models that differentiate themselves from their ICE counterparts, the future of the Lincoln Corsair remains uncertain. The automaker’s commitment to expanding its EV lineup signals an exciting era of electric vehicles and a shift toward sustainable mobility.

2025 Ford Escape Update

The Ford Escape recently underwent a significant update for the 2020 model year, but the fast-paced nature of the automotive industry means that a mid-cycle refresh is already on the horizon. Automotive News reports that Ford has plans for changes to the 2023 Escape, which is expected to launch in late 2022, before undergoing another redesign in 2025.

This might appear sudden, especially considering the recent launch of the Escape plug-in hybrid, which faced delays due to Ford Kuga PHEV fires in Europe. However, the compact crossover segment is fiercely competitive. Despite a 21 percent growth in Escape sales in Q2 of this year, it still trails behind several rivals, including the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, Chevrolet Equinox, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Subaru Forester.

In terms of market share, the Ford Escape currently holds 6 percent, a 1 percent decrease from last year, placing it well behind the CR-V (16 percent), RAV4 (14 percent), and Rogue (12 percent). Furthermore, prior to the increase in Q2, Escape sales had declined for 10 consecutive quarters, despite being one of the newest vehicles in its segment.

It is worth noting that the chip shortage has contributed to the low inventory and production challenges, leading Ford to temporarily halt operations at the Ford Louisville Assembly Plant where the Escape and Lincoln Corsair are manufactured.
