Exclusive! 2024 Ford Maverick Pickup Truck Review

Posted on

2024 Ford Maverick is a pickup truck born with a compact concept and the most affordable vehicle presented by Blue Oval. The development of compact trucks has greatly expanded since the Ford Maverick, which has departed from the traditional body-on-frame construction of larger trucks in favor of the unibody setup derived from the Bronco Sport platform and is equipped with a reasonable-sized bed and towing figures and an impressive payload for a small truck.

The Ford Maverick was introduced earlier in 2022, which still feels quite fresh. The Tremor Off-Road package has been added to support XLT and Lariat four-wheelers. As for changes in 2024, we are very positive that things will be relatively calm for Maverick ahead of a possible refresh in 2025 or beyond.

The small truck continues to be offered exclusively as a four-door crew cab with a 4.5-foot berth and two engine options, including a base 2.5-liter hybrid and a 2.0-liter turbocharged, and is available with front- or all-wheel drive.

This particular car competition is between the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz. However, it is possible that it will compete with medium-sized trucks such as the Ford Ranger, Honda Ridgeline, Chevrolet Colorado, Nissan Frontier, and Toyota Tacoma.

2024 Ford Maverick Review

The 2024 Ford Maverick will no doubt come with a fresh design and refresh for 2024. We think the Ford Maverick is also the most affordable and financially accessible Ford pickup in the Blue Oval portfolio.

2024 Ford Maverick

We expect Ford to be able to present a plug-in hybrid AWD variant this year to join the standard hybrid and petrol turbo-four models. The 2024 Ford Maverick also features a native utility AWD variant this year to join the standard hybrid and petrol turbo-four models. The 2024 Ford Maverick also features a native utility bed, especially if you opt for the 4K turbo-four tow package.

The Maverick’s boxy styling makes it a bit more confident than the Hyundai Santa Cruz, though the truck is a bit more capable, and neither truck offers as many cab and bed configurations. That said, the short cushion of the front seats will limit comfort for taller drivers.

Additionally, we firmly believe the Ford Maverick is the least expensive hybrid on the market and has been recognized for its solid efficiency performance with the base engine. Also, if we want off-road capability, the tougher Maverick FX4 and Maverick Tremor bring the trucklet close to Ford’s Bronco Sport capabilities, as both models are equipped with turbo-fours, which are not very powerful or efficient.

The Ford Maverick weighs 12,000 pounds and has 45 inches of rear legroom, making it a compact vehicle with small, affordable options. The Maverick also offers the compact hybrid SUV’s fuel economy, high hatchback handling, and a lower price than the Toyota Camry. Well done, Ford.

  • Low price for the base model
  • There is lots of equipment available to improve your crane, off-roading, and safety.
  • Comes with a standard hybrid powertrain for amazing fuel economy.
  • Selection of reliable and fast acceleration from turbocharged engines
  • Offers reliable plug-in hybrids
  • The off-road Tremor model

What’s New: Ford Maverick 2024

The Ford Maverick practically started a new class of pickup trucks when it was introduced as a new vehicle in 2022. Even though the truck is still relatively new, we really expect such significant changes in the presence of the latest 2024 Ford Maverick.

The likely 2024 Ford Maverick comes with a few tweaks that will give the Maverick an updated exterior and interior design. The Maverick was another of Ford’s successes, blending some crossover elements with the traditional square bed of a truck for a unique look.

2024 Ford Maverick Exterior

The front of the 2024 Maverick features C-shaped headlights with a square grille that has trim pieces that divide the headlights for a futuristic and elegant impression. Meanwhile, the rest of the Maverick looks like a truck with a small box bed, square taillights, and a simple rear bumper.

We hope this refresh will see the 2024 Maverick get updated headlights, a new grille, and a multi-function tailgate.

2024 Ford Maverick Interior

The 2024 Ford Maverick also comes with a charming and sophisticated interior design, showing a straightforward appearance and being oriented toward ease of doing work. It is equipped with a touch screen integrated into the dashboard and has a small storage compartment that is located just to the right of the screen.

The physical controls for the infotainment system are located just below the screen, which is expected to make it easier for the driver. A pair of square air vents separate the infotainment controls from the large HVAC controls located lower on the center console.

Comes with doors that offer innovative storage areas and features a two-tone interior color scheme that brings coziness and comfort to the cabin. Refreshments to the 2024 Ford Maverick model could see the truck come with a redesigned center console, more innovative storage compartments, and sleek new interior materials.

2024 Ford Maverick Plug-In Hybrid

The Ford Maverick has so far entered a hugely successful phase in introducing the plug-in hybrid type car, as demand continued to outstrip supply shortly after the compact pickup was launched. The good news is that the most popular version of Maverick is Hybrid.

The Maverick Hybrid also excels strongly in its EPA fuel economy rating of 40 miles per gallon in the city and 33 on the highway, and we fully support Ford in the development of a future plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Maverick. Because the Maverick Hybrid is so efficient and affordable, the EPA currently estimates that the Maverick Hybrid’s total annual fuel cost is only $1,500.

We also really appreciate that FoMoCo has continued to focus on increasing production of the Ford Maverick to keep up with demand, and to be honest, the model already dominates the (admittedly limited) compact pickup lineup in terms of sales.

That good news aside, the Maverick Hybrid has also won its fair share of critical acclaim, including being named Consumer Reports’ most satisfying pickup and a top 10 pick for 2023, as well as maintaining a steady presence on Kelley Blue Book’s list of electric vehicles most considered for use and sale.

Performance

There are two powertrains used in the 2024 Ford Maverick, with the entry-level option being a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid. Machine with a CVT automatic transmission and produces 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. Meanwhile, we hope that the AWD option will also be available this year.

While the other powertrain is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that works with an eight-speed automatic and FWD or AWD, which was available earlier in the Maverick. With 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque, the Maverick turbo-four has returned 22-23/29-30 mpg city/highway. Expect 0–60 mph in 7.0 seconds or so.

The 2024 Ford Maverick is also rumored to introduce a plug-in hybrid that will hit the market. It will likely use a version of the plug-in hybrid powertrain we drove in the Ford Escape PHEV.

Safety Ratings and Features

In terms of safety features, we’re so sure Ford takes this very seriously. Ford offers the Maverick with lots of Co-Pilot360 driver assistance features. Automatic emergency braking and automatic high beam are included on all models, and adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic warning are optional extras.

Crane Capacity and Payload

The Ford Maverick Hybrid model can haul 1,500 pounds, while the turbocharged four-cylinder model with the optional 4K Tow package can tow around 4,000 pounds.

2024 Ford Maverick Trim

We’d recommend that between the entry-level Maverick XL, mid-level XLT, and top-range Lariat, we go for that middle ground. The Maverick is fairly well equipped as standard, but the XLT swaps out the basic cloth seats for two-tone cloth upholstery with sharp orange accents.

2024 Ford Maverick Price and Release Date

Before discussing the price and release date, we will first discuss the 2024 Ford Maverick Order Bank, where previously Maverick had been a huge success since the second launch, to the extent that the Ford Maverick supply was lacking due to high demand to this day.

With the status of so many customers waiting to take delivery of their new compact pickup. We firmly believe the success of the 2023 model year at this point will certainly impact many who will be looking to order an upcoming model year.

The Ford Authority has provided information that the current 2024 Ford Maverick order bank will open in July. More specifically, the 2024 Ford Maverick’s order bank is slated to open on July 17, 2023.

Production of the 2024 Maverick is also expected to start at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico on October 16, 2023, although as usual, these dates are subject to flux, especially as automakers like Ford continue to address various global supply chain issues.

As for the price, we can’t say for sure about the 2024 Maverick model. However, our speculation is that the price will start at $32,295.
