The 2027 Ford Super Duty is the closest thing to an industrial machine you can operate without a commercial driver’s license. With exceptional towing capability, a payload capacity of 8,000 pounds, and a maximum towing capacity of 40,000 pounds, the Super Duty is the king of the job site, offering utility with a touch of luxury in the top-of-the-line King Ranch and Platinum trims.
Updates (June 20, 2026): We’ve just updated the latest details on the 2027 Ford Super Duty, including major engine lineup changes, the debut of the new Carhartt Package, and expanded Tremor availability. With up to 40,000 pounds of towing capacity, Ford’s heavy-duty workhorse continues to raise the bar. Price range: $48,770–$82,260.
The Super Duty’s options list is extensive and diverse, offering a variety of cab and bed options and a range of powerful engines. The legendary 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine tops the list, with 1,200 pound-feet of torque that unlocks the truck’s maximum towing capacity.
Those who don’t opt for the diesel won’t be disappointed, either, as the 7.3-liter V-8 gasoline engine can still tow up to 23,400 pounds, though with just 485 pound-feet of torque, it has to work much harder to do so.
From a different perspective, the 2027 Ford Super Duty has been engaged in a fierce rivalry with the Chevrolet Silverado HD and Ram HD for decades, with the three trucks vying for supremacy as heavy-duty workhorses. The Super Duty has the highest towing capacity of the three, but the Ram HD was recently updated, and the Silverado HD lineup has even more variety.
What’s New
Ford has discontinued the 6.8-liter V-8 gasoline engine and its less powerful 6.7-liter V-8 diesel variant. The two remaining engine options are a 485-hp 7.3-liter V-8 gasoline engine and a 500-hp 6.7-liter V-8 turbodiesel engine.
This model is available with a new Carhartt Edition model, which features numerous Carhartt logos, unique 20-inch wheels, and interior upholstery inspired by the brand’s durable workwear.
2027 Ford Super Duty Report
The Ford Super Duty Redesign is about to enter a refresh phase as the highly popular and profitable Ford Super Duty just got a redesign for the 2023 model year, along with some key updates for the 2025 model year.

However, we always look forward in the automotive world, which regularly brings refreshes and redesigns, and in the case of the Ford Super Duty, that will definitely happen in the near future.
Previously, reports suggested that the Super Duty would get its next proper refresh in 2026, followed by a redesign in 2028, and the new report seems to continue to support those claims.
According to Automotive News (AN), the Ford Super Duty is expected to get a “minor refresh” in 2026 (likely for the 2027 model year), followed by a redesign in 2028 (likely for the 2029 model year).
The early refresh will coincide with the start of Ford Super Duty production at the Oakville assembly plant in Canada, which is currently being retooled for that purpose after production of the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus ended there last year.
As for what we can expect from the 2027 Ford Super Duty in the future, the larger pickup has long been rumored to receive a hybrid powertrain option, which would be a first for the model. This report suggests that the electrification option will come as part of a redesign rather than a refresh, meaning it could debut before the end of the decade.
A similar thing was also reported by one of the Ford Authority (FA) media previously, the Ford Super Duty is one of several models that has the potential to receive the EREV (extended range electric vehicle) powertrain option.
The powertrain combines a large battery pack with a gasoline drivetrain to provide substantial all-electric driving range and reserve power for longer trips, or when hauling or towing heavy loads.

2027 Ford Super Duty Interior
First Row: Those looking for the base XL trim should expect a fairly spartan cabin, but beyond that, the rest of the Super Duty lineup offers more stylish surroundings. Enhanced comfort and luxury features become available as trim levels increase, and Ford has designed front seats that recline nearly flat so drivers can rest comfortably during long-distance overnight stops.

Second Row: Tall rear passengers will likely only enjoy the rear seat experience in the SuperCrew cab model. The longer SuperCab configuration has a small rear seat and equally small rear doors.
Cargo Capacity: Buyers can choose from a standard cab, an extended SuperCab, or a four-door SuperCrew cab with two bed sizes (6.8 ft or 8.0 ft). The Super Duty’s numerous compartments and versatile trays are highlighted by a large storage bin in the center console on models with bucket seats. Crew cabs take storage a step further with a lockable box under the rear seat.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The base XL trim comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while more expensive models get a larger 12.0-inch display. A reconfigurable 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster is also available. A pair of large volume and adjustment knobs, along with other physical buttons on the steering wheel, make the system feel intuitive.
Other models feature a 12.0-inch touchscreen with Sync 4 software that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Larger cabins can be equipped with enough accessory outlets to light up a Guns N’ Roses concert, including up to two 110-volt outlets. All models come with a stereo system tuned by Bang & Olufsen. A 640-watt system with eight speakers is standard; a 1080-watt system with 18 speakers is optional.

2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Edition
During the Detroit Auto Show, Ford CEO Jim Farley hinted at a future partnership with Carhartt. Farley has now used social media to boast about the 2027 Super Duty vehicle, which he says will come out later this year. Only Carhartt will sell the truck. Ford and Carhartt are both established in Detroit.
The word Carhartt means hard effort, whether it’s in farming, making things, or building things. Ford remarked of the truck at the time, “This collaboration looks at the intersection of traditional workwear and automotive craftsmanship, highlighting shared values of durability, innovation, and local pride.”
What We Think
The door of the Super Duty Carhartt has the insignia of the 6.7-liter V8 Power Stroke turbodiesel engine on it. The picture also displays beadlock wheels sitting on a manhole cover. Ford says the similarity to the manhole cover is by design.
Ford designers got a lot of ideas for the details of the car after they went to the Carhartt store in downtown Detroit last year. They learned about the different textures, colors, and uses of Carhartt products, including wheels that were inspired by the manhole covers outside the store.
“Carhartt’s DNA is about hardworking people who do amazing things with their tough clothes. The tools they use are as important to their work as our trucks are to builders,” said Tyler Hill, senior manager of Ford Global Licensing.
I think the inside of the truck will contain some of the high-quality textiles that have made Carhartt clothes famous for how long they last. I also want the colors to match Carhartt’s color scheme, which is soft but strong and typically has leather accent. Carhartt is easy to spot because of its brown or beige colors, although it also often incorporates black and navy. The beige jacket with a leather collar from Carhartt is famous.
The Ford and Carhartt Partnership
Ford and Carhartt have been working together for over 100 years, and their most recent project is an extension of that cooperation. Carhartt has been making uniforms for Ford that are made to order for decades. Carhartt will also make new products with the emblems of both firms in the future.
The Ford and Carhartt cooperation helps train the next generation of car mechanics. Carhartt will give the next generation of students who graduate from the Ford Auto Tech Scholars program tools and other things they need.
Ford and Carhartt are also bringing ToolBank to Detroit. ToolBank USA is a nonprofit that gives people access to tools for community improvement, job training, and disaster relief. Next month, ToolBank Detroit will open. It will be a place where the next generation of skilled workers can learn. ToolBank will have a free equipment lending program that gives, stores, and fixes tools and equipment for local groups and workers. Every year, it helps more than 5,000 volunteers and 25,000 pieces of equipment. Ford is giving them an F-150 with ProPower On Board to help them reach more people in Southeast Michigan.
“This is a great partnership because we all want to make sure that workers have the best tools and equipment available.” “ToolBank USA inspires people to do more with their hands while changing lives in our local communities,” Farley added. “Who better to grow their mission and bring the next center to this great city than Ford and Carhartt, two well-known Detroit companies?”
Linda Hubbard, the CEO of Carhartt, said, “Hamilton Carhartt started our company with a simple idea: listen to hard-working people and make things that help them do their jobs safely and well.” “For 136 years, we’ve helped skilled workers by making equipment that lasts that they can count on. That promise has grown to include backing programs that provide people the skills and training they need to get good jobs in such fields. We are very happy that working with Ford will enable us move forward with this essential work.
2027 Carhartt Super Duty Package
Two Motor City icons Ford Motor Company and Carhartt are entering the arena. Not as adversaries, but as partners with one noble goal: building the best trucks for skilled workers in America. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Package. That’s right, it’s not a separate trim like the King Ranch, Lariat, or Platinum. Nor is it a Special Edition. No, it’s simply a $4,195 package for the XLT, the second-most affordable trim in the lineup.

Ford says the Carhartt Package isn’t just a stylish look package, but rather a package of looks, durability, and utility that balances form and function, with some excellent features you can’t get on other Super Dutys. But what exactly do you get for less than $4,200? And are Ford and Carhartt right? Advanced models feature a 12.0-inch touchscreen display powered by Sync 4 software, complete with wireless integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In the more spacious cabin configuration, a variety of accessory outlets are available, including up to two 110-volt outlets capable of supplying large power needs. In terms of audio, all variants use a Bang & Olufsen-calibrated stereo system, with a 640-watt system with eight speakers as standard equipment, while an optional 1080-watt system with 18 speakers is available as an additional option.
A collaboration between Detroit-based industry giants Ford Motor Company and Carhartt has resulted in the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Package, designed specifically for skilled workers. It’s important to note that this isn’t a standalone trim or special edition, but rather a $4,195 add-on package available for the XLT trim. Ford emphasizes that this package isn’t just an aesthetic upgrade, but rather a blend of durability and functional utility that offers exclusive features not found on other Super Duty models.
To introduce this innovation, Ford invited truck enthusiasts to Detroit to preview the Carhartt Package firsthand. The event was held at The Godfrey Hotel in Cork Town, the historic site of Carhartt’s first factory. A thorough look at the vehicle’s exterior and interior revealed key points that define the value of the Carhartt Package on the 2027 Super Duty.
To find out, The Blue Oval invited Ford Truck enthusiasts to Detroit this week to see the new Carhartt Package firsthand. They not only provided transportation and meals, but also put us up at The Godfrey Hotel, a historic building in Cork Town that once housed Carhartt’s first factory. And after spending a few hours inside and out, here are the 12 most important things you need to know about the 2027 Carhartt Super Duty Package.
Specifications Summary:
- Infotainment System: Standard is an 8.0-inch touchscreen, with an upgrade option to a 12-inch screen.
- Connectivity: Supports Bluetooth as well as wireless projection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2027 Ford Super Duty Neptune Blue
Ford Authority introduced the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Package earlier this year, and now we have a full look at it. This workwear-inspired package delivers unique styling both inside and out, and Ford Authority got a chance to see one in Neptune Blue.

The 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Package features a unique dark grille exclusive to the package, paired with a unique set of 20-inch machined and painted wheels shod with BSW all-terrain tires. Textured off-road steps are installed on both sides, matching the Tough Bed cargo bed liner sprayed with the Carhartt logo. Carhartt graphics are emblazoned on the fender vents, doors, and tailgate with custom-colored accents. In addition to breaking up the uniform exterior, these graphics also serve as protection from road debris.
Underneath all the exclusive Carhartt accessories, this Ford Super Duty is finished in Neptune Blue, a new color for the 2027 model year. Pricing for the new color hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s one of the few colors that can be paired with the Carhartt Package. The other available colors are Marsh Gray, Iconic Silver Metallic, Agate Black Metallic, Carbonized Gray Metallic, and Oxford White.
In addition to a variety of branded accessories, the 2027 Carhartt Super Duty Package equips the pickup with bright exterior lighting. This includes LED roof marker lights, clearance lights, reflector lights, fog lights, and a top-mounted brake light.
The branding extends to the interior. Carhartt-inspired cloth seats are featured in the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Package, featuring triple stitching reminiscent of the brand’s workwear products. The heavy-duty pickup’s all-weather floor mats are also inspired by Carhartt tool bags, and even the steering wheel features accent stitching.
In addition to the addition of the Carhartt Package, the 2027 Ford Super Duty gets several enhancements to the Tremor Offroad Package, plus the Platinum Chassis Cab, which makes its debut. It also gets some changes to its engine lineup, including the removal of one relatively new engine.
The 2027 Ford Super Duty Drops the 6.8L V8, Retains the Standard 6.7L Power Stroke Engine
The 2023 Ford Super Duty debuts as an all-new, fifth-generation version of the Blue Oval’s most capable truck line, and features a number of changes as part of the redesign. These changes include the addition of a new standard 6.8L V8 gasoline engine, which is based on the Godzilla 7.3L V8 that debuted a few years earlier, though Ford chose not to call it Godzilla.
The Ford Super Duty also received a higher-powered version of the 6.7L turbocharged Power Stroke V8 diesel engine to replace the standard version. Now, the 2027 Ford Super Duty eliminates two of those engines.
Ford Authority (FA) has confirmed that the 2027 Ford Super Duty will ditch the relatively new 6.8L V8, making the Godzilla 7.3L V8 the standard engine once again. Additionally, the standard 6.7L Power Stroke V8, which produces 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque, will also be discontinued, leaving diesel enthusiasts with the higher-powered version, which produces 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque.

In addition to these changes, the 2027 Ford Super Duty lineup also receives several additional enhancements. The Tremor Off-Road Package can now be paired with the XL trim with the STX Appearance Package, giving customers a more affordable way to get enhanced off-road capability, and for the first time, the Tremor package is now also available on Crew Cab long-bed pickups, for the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims, and with a large 48-gallon fuel tank.
For those who want larger tires without the extra features of the Tremor package, they can also pair the XL Crew Cab, a four-wheel-drive, short-bed, single-rear-wheel-drive pickup with a new 35-inch tire package, while Ford is bringing the luxurious Platinum trim to F-350 through F-550 Chassis Cab Super Duty models. Finally, the 2027 Ford Super Duty gets the Carhartt Package, adding some unique workwear-inspired upgrades to this heavy-duty pickup.

2027 Ford Super Duty Hybrid
Ford has begun planning a series plug-in hybrid system for use in SUVs and potentially some of its largest pickup trucks. In a statement”Ford will develop flexible body-on-frame and unit-body platforms that will be designed for multi-energy powertrains as needed given the realities of customer affordability and range requirements. Farley pointed to a combined range of 700 miles on the EREV (range-extended EV), which combines the range of the battery pack and gasoline-powered auxiliary drive.

It’s expected that such vehicles will follow a series hybrid format, using an internal combustion engine as a generator, with an electric motor actually driving the wheels. A plug-in hybrid version would allow for a battery pack large enough to offer substantial electric range, with the combustion engine acting as a range extender.
Ford didn’t provide a specific launch date for the powertrain, but according to a Bloomberg report Tuesday, it will likely be used in Ford’s heavy-duty trucks, branded Super Duty. The powertrain could begin appearing in larger trucks and SUVs as early as 2027, around the same time Ford hopes to update its electric vehicle lineup with more affordable models, according to the report, which cited unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
Farley explained that while Ford may see a good opportunity for small and mid-size electric vehicles, especially as a second vehicle in a household, for larger retail electric SUVs, “the economics are not solvable.”
“These customers have very demanding usage requirements for their electric vehicles: towing loads, driving off-road, and traveling long distances,” Farley explained. “These vehicles have poorer aerodynamics and are very heavy, which means very large and expensive batteries.”
The CEO then explained that while fleet customers have shown a willingness to pay more for fully electric trucks, retail customers have not. But with the EREV layout, Farley said, the additional investment for such a vehicle is “very minimal.” That, the CEO said, could allow Ford to offer EV driving attributes without a price premium.
Last year, Ford said it planned to launch more hybrid vehicles and reduce electric vehicles in response to what the automaker considered unfavorable market conditions for all-electric models.
They canceled plans to launch a three-row electric SUV originally planned for this year, while announcing new midsize and full-size electric pickup trucks for 2027 and a commercial van to be produced in Ohio starting in 2026.
Other automakers are also considering gasoline-powered auxiliary powertrains for trucks. The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger is scheduled to arrive at dealerships later this year, ahead of its electric version, the Ram 1500 REV, whose launch has been delayed until 2026. The Ram 1500 is the largest full-size truck still classified as a light-duty vehicle, while Ford’s Super Duty trucks are classified as heavy-duty vehicles and therefore not subject to the same efficiency and safety standards.
We Volkswagen Group’s new Scout brand also plans to offer a wider-range powertrain, called the Harvester, for the Traveler SUV and Terra pickup, in addition to the all-electric powertrain. Both models are scheduled to launch in 2027.

The two corporations have teamed up to give technicians at dealerships new, long-lasting uniforms. The work clothes come in men’s and women’s sizes and include shirts, slacks, coats, t-shirts, and a variety of shoes and accessories.
Later this year, you will be able to buy the 2027 Carhartt Super Duty truck. Farley said on social media that further information, including a look at the vehicle, will be coming shortly. I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out more in February. The Chicago Auto Show is coming soon, and it’s usually all about trucks. This would be the best time to show off the Super Duty diesel truck from 2027.
2027 Ford Super Duty Engine
The Super Duty engine is a 7.3-liter V-8 with 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque. Of course, every F-250, F-350, and F-450 can be equipped with the crown jewel of the Super Duty empire: the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine. This diesel engine produces 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque.
While the diesel engine is very capable, the 7.3-liter V-8 gasoline engine can nearly match its towing capabilities in some trims and is significantly cheaper. A reliable 10-speed automatic transmission handles gear changes in every configuration, and customers can choose between a single or dual rear axle (also called a “dualie”).
The Super Duty also offers an off-road package called the Tremor, which adds a lift kit and larger tires, along with other off-road enhancements. This heavy-duty Ford performs as expected of a large truck designed to tow up to 20 tons. Unladen, the handling feels stiff and bouncy, but that sensation subsides when the bed is loaded or a heavy trailer is attached.
Despite this, the Ram HD’s ride is significantly better, both with and without a load. Ford’s most luxurious trim levels are better at damping wind and road noise on the highway. The truck we drove benefited from a firm and responsive brake pedal, and the steering was easy to control at low speeds and in tight spaces where maneuvering on the larger models can be difficult.
- Engine: V-8 7.3 liter 430 hp, V-8 diesel 6.7 liter 500 hp
- Transmission: 10-speed automatic
- Drive system: rear wheel drive, all wheel drive
2027 Ford Super Duty Performance
In a diesel-powered race, the Ford Super Duty equipped with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine beat the Duramax-powered Chevrolet Silverado by a significant margin in our testing. The F-250 SuperCrew 4×4 we tested hit that speed in 5.5 seconds, while the Silverado 2500 needed 6.4 seconds.
- Acceleration test 0-60 mph (C/D): 5.5 seconds (SuperCrew 4×4 6.7-liter diesel V-8)
2027 Ford Super Duty Payload
The Super Duty offers a maximum payload capacity of 8,000 pounds and can tow up to 40,000 pounds with a gooseneck attachment, 35,000 pounds with a fifth-wheel attachment, and 30,000 pounds with a conventional attachment. To handle all these loads, the manufacturer has equipped this truck with a number of towing assistance features.
These include an onboard scale with Smart Hitch, which estimates the load weight in real time and provides guidance on weight distribution at the front of the trailer. There’s also Trailer Navigation, which can optimize travel routes based on the trailer’s dimensions and weight.
While conceptually useful, Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist didn’t work as expected the last time we tested it. On two attempts, the feature failed to align the truck with the enclosed trailer, forcing us to manually align them.
The Ford Super Duty took first place in towing capacity, beating the Ram HD with a maximum towing capacity of 36,310 pounds. The Chevy Silverado HD came in third, with a maximum capacity of 36,000 pounds.
- Maximum Towing Capacity: 40,000 lbs
- Maximum Payload: 8000 lbs

Competitor
Towing capacity is often the deciding factor in 2026 heavy-duty truck comparisons, and here, Ford once again outperforms its competitors. With the right configuration, the Super Duty vs. Silverado 2500 towing capability comparison favors the Ford, with the ability to tow up to 40,000 lbs with a gooseneck trailer and 30,000 lbs with a conventional trailer.
2027 Ford Super Duty MPG
Because the EPA doesn’t test vehicles as heavy as the Super Duty and its larger competitors, we base our own assessments on our own testing. On a 75-mph highway fuel efficiency test route, the 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 SuperCrew 4×4 with the high-powered Power Stroke diesel engine achieved 20 mpg, while the F-250 SuperCrew 4×4 with the 7.3-liter gasoline engine achieved 15 mpg.
- We expect the optional Power Stroke diesel engine on the Super Duty to be the most fuel-efficient engine in the lineup.
- C/D Highway Fuel Consumption Test 75 mph: 20 mpg (6.7-liter V-8 Power Stroke engine)
2027 Ford Super Duty Price
Pricing for the 2027 Ford Super Duty starts at $48,770 and goes up to $82,260 depending on the trim and options selected.
We recommend the F-250 with a spacious crew cab, a standard 6.8-foot cargo bed, and a single rear axle. Pair it with the mid-range Lariat trim, which we believe offers the best combination of comfort and convenience for the price.
To maximize its potential, we’d opt for the high-powered Power Stroke diesel engine; it’s more expensive, but if you’re serious about towing and hauling, it’s hard to beat.
| Models | Prices |
| XL | $49,000 |
| XLT | $52,000 |
| Lariat | $66,000 |
| King Rach | $81,000 |
| Platinum | $82,000 |
Safety
Most models can be equipped with advanced driver-assistance technologies, including automatic emergency braking and a useful multi-view camera system. Likewise, the blind spot monitoring system even works when the truck is towing a trailer. However, the Backup Assist feature, which automatically steers the steering wheel when backing into a trailer, didn’t work properly when we tested it.
- Standard Safety Features: automatic emergency braking
- Optional Safety Features: lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control.
