I recently had the chance to drive the whole new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, which would have been a great tool for the apocalypse, assuming that the apocalypse did not get significantly narrower in the roads.
This opportunity came from a local reader in the Philadelphia area named John who bought his 2017 Raptor just a few weeks ago. John also encouraged me to enjoy his Raptor, even though he had only driven 500 miles. John laughed with me, so I put the accelerator on the floor. John is good people.
Before I get into my thoughts on the Raptor, let me share the details: The latest raptor is based on the latest Ford F-150 and it’s still muscled, with muscle shaping an off-roadr pickup. But now, this is just a ridiculous power. Even if the latest Raptor uses “only a V6”, the 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque–40 more HP and about 80 more than the lb-ft outgoing model. As a result, the Raptor weighs 5,700 pounds, even if the 60 is roughly as fast as a Subaru WRX-zero in 5.3 seconds.
I have confirmed this 0-to-60 time several times during my Raptor drive because this thing is absolutely impossible to drive and sometimes I want to fold. And every time, your face is absolutely impossible to have a big smile and no light. Raptor moves as fast as a sports car, and while doing this, the muscle-car audio pumps into the cabin. One of my favorite standard features in this truck is the six overhead switches fitted to the Bank. This is great for anyone who wants to install aftermarket lighting, an air compressor or other tools but does not want to confront the interior of its $60,000 truck. They are backlit and can be configured to run on or without ignition. It’s a wise setup and the keys have a nice positive tent.

Ford is a small swap 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine, which puts 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. All you want about the little engine is to whine, but the old power plant beats 411 horsepower and torque of 434 pound-feet. Aluminum body cuts 500 pound truck off, so you have more power and less weight. It feels like winning.
Ford has increased the wheel travel for this second generation truck, giving the front and 13 inches behind the 13.9 inch, making the Raptor a Baja Runner right in the showroom floor. You may even be able to argue that there is some real Baja racing truck, don’t mind the employees. Ford 2016 Baja 1000 here then finished on the podium, tiring Mexican shafts on the 1,000 dirt, and then the team damn thing drove the next day instead of putting a trailer for the home of Arizona.

With this kind of comprehensive Off-Road terrain management technology, the Raptor deserves to be a better driver than you probably are. Although the truck does most of the work for you, you still have to have the courage to attempt to Side-Hill 45 degree slopes, or you have to attack a foot-and-a-half-deep section at a depth of 60 km per hour.
