2025 Ford Edge: The Comfortable Experience Luxury SUV Reviews

2025 Ford Edge: The Ford Edge is a midsize SUV that has been a popular choice among car buyers since its debut in 2006. With its sleek and modern design, spacious interior, and advanced features, the Ford Edge has quickly become a top contender in the crowded SUV market.

Whether you’re looking for a comfortable family car or a stylish ride for your daily commute, the Ford Edge offers something for everyone.

The Ford Edge is a popular midsize crossover SUV that has been in production since 2006. It has become a staple in Ford’s lineup, offering a mix of style, performance, and utility to satisfy the needs of modern drivers.

Since its debut, the Ford Edge has undergone several redesigns and updates to keep up with changing consumer demands and market trends. Its latest iteration was introduced in 2015, but the model is due for a major overhaul, with a new design expected to be unveiled soon.

One of the most distinctive features of the Ford Edge is its spacious interior, which can accommodate up to five passengers comfortably. It also boasts a generous cargo area, making it an excellent choice for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who needs ample storage space.

Will Ford release a next-generation Edge? For a large number of Ford Edge enthusiasts, the unfortunate answer is that it’s complicated. A hybrid Edge may be on the horizon, but we wouldn’t hold our breath in anticipation.

Nonetheless, Ford has a new-generation Edge available for other markets, including the Chinese market. The 2024 Ford Edge L has been observed undergoing testing and will likely debut at the Shanghai Auto Show shortly. But why is Ford discontinuing the Edge in the United States?

Ford has ambitious ambitions for electrification in the future. So far, the brand has produced excellent EVs, such as the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning. Ford, like most other manufacturers, is pursuing an EV-centric strategy.

The Blue Oval has announced that it will cease production of the Ford Edge at the Oakville Assembly Complex in Canada in 2020, following the signing of agreements to introduce electric vehicles beginning in 2025. The Edge SUV will presumably be discontinued after the 2023 model year as a result of the new electrification plans.

2025 Ford Edge Reviews

The 2025 Ford Edge is a similar two-row SUV that has plenty of space, easy controls, and a comfortable, quiet cockpit. However, this is the best example of the adequacy of middle-of-the-road efforts. It is also nearing the end of its useful life. Ford gave the most meaningless farewell to 2024: nothing will change.

Ford has been beefing up its SUV portfolio since 2018, adding three new nameplates to its list of non-car products. These include the Bronco, Bronco Sport, and EcoSport. In the same period, it completely redesigned its three flagships, the Escape, Explorer, and Expedition.

So there’s no shortage of new SUVs with the Blue Oval. Given these other priorities, it’s not surprising that the Edge, which was last renovated in 2015, hasn’t received much attention from Ford lately. According to rumors circulating, this model will be discontinued this year and replaced with an electric SUV.

Nonetheless, the Edge will remain available for the 2024 model year. Expect it to be as spacious, quiet, and comfortable an SUV as Ford has produced for nine model years.

2025 Ford Edge: The Comfortable Experience Luxury SUV Reviews

The Edge competes in the core of the SUV market, where most buyers search and have many choices. This puts it up against some of the hottest competitors, like Honda’s excellent Passport, Subaru’s car-like Outback, and Toyota’s hybrid-only Venza.

The first two brands are well-known brands with a track record of high utility and reliability. The Venza is a relatively new model that outperforms most competitors in its class when it comes to fuel efficiency.

All-wheel drive is standard on the Edge, which isn’t available on some competing entry-level models. The lowest SE model also includes interesting standard driver assistance technologies like blind spot detection and automatic emergency braking.

However, we prefer the mid-level SEL model, which has synthetic leather upholstery, heated power-operated front seats, a superior audio system, and Ford’s touchpad entry system, which some Ford fans won’t live without.

Ford Edge 2025

The New 2025 Ford Edge currently available for purchase has been in the market since the 2015 model year and needs a redesign. However, the Edge that can be seen in our spy shots has been specifically designed for the Chinese market and is not expected to be released in the United States.

The United States version of the Edge is anticipated to be discontinued later this year. Ford has not provided any details regarding the future of the nameplate in the US, but the possibility of an electric successor – along with a successor to the Lincoln Nautilus – exists.

This is because the Edge’s Oakville Ford Assembly Plant in Canada is scheduled to be converted to produce EVs in 2024, with the first EVs set to be produced there in 2025.

2025 Ford Edge

The Edge model seen in our spy shots has already appeared on the website of the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and it will debut later this year.

The crossover showcases a similar sculpted design to Ford’s mid-size Mondeo sedan that replaced the Fusion in China in the previous year. Furthermore, the Blue Oval has a distinct version of the Explorer, as well as a coupe-like crossover called the Evos, available for purchase in China.

Reports from China suggest that this Edge model is a larger mid-size vehicle with a length of 196.9 inches, which is more than eight inches longer than the U.S.-spec Edge.

The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 with an estimated output of 250 horsepower. Additionally, an electrified variant with a power output of approximately 270 horsepower is also in the works. A related Lincoln Nautilus model is expected to be released later this year, but, likely, it will also be restricted to the Chinese market.

  • Plush and well-padded seats.
  • Plenty of room for passengers and luggage.
  • Fuel-efficient and performance-oriented engines
  • Quiet cabin at highway speeds.
  • The Edge is almost definitely in its final year of production.

2025 Ford Edge China

In 2024, Ford will initiate the retooling of the facility in preparation for the production of the forthcoming EVs. The new electric vehicles will begin production in 2025 and go on sale in the same model year. However, this does not mean that the Edge is wholly gone.

2025 Ford Edge

The Changan Ford Assembly Plant in Chongqing, China, will continue to manufacture the 7-seater Chinese Ford Edge. It will be the only company to produce the compact crossover. It is therefore not the conclusion for the Ford Edge, but rather the end of its production in North America.

New Ford Edge 2025

The Ford Edge is spacious and uncomplicated, exactly what some drivers yearn for in a midsize SUV. However, in a competitive market, the Edge appears to be a touch bland.

The Edge’s cabin is generously sized, with plenty of luggage space and adequate legroom even in the second row of seats. Although the Edge’s big-screen technology is impressive, the overall material quality isn’t outstanding; even high-end trims feel missing in luxury embellishments.

Ford’s enthusiasm for performance is evident in the 2025 Ford Edge, which benefits from good acceleration and brakes, especially in the sporty ST variant. This comes at the expense of suspension refinement, which is unsettled in ordinary versions and slightly stiff in the ST model.

The Edge, one of the oldest vehicles in the midsize SUV category, requires a complete overhaul. Although it continues to meet the core requirements, many of its competitors are far more enticing.

2025 Ford Edge Redesign

Last year, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed the redesigned Ford Edge, but it did not make its expected debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

There are now rumors that the Edge could be introduced in Europe and the United States, and an unveiling is expected in April. However, the recent sighting of the Edge undergoing cold weather testing near the Arctic Circle suggests that the vehicle is not yet ready for release.

Although the Edge is camouflaged, the vehicle’s design has already been revealed, rendering the camouflage somewhat unnecessary. The model will have a front end similar to that of the Equator, featuring a broad grille flanked by distinct headlights.

The upscale design extends further back with the Edge showcasing curvaceous bodywork and flush-mounted door handles. The C-pillar even has a wave-like accent, adding a touch of flair to the greenhouse.

The rear end of the vehicle is relatively plain in comparison, with triangular taillights that are connected by a thin strip featuring “Edge” badging. The model also has horizontal reflectors and a liftgate-mounted spoiler.

2025 Ford Edge

Unfortunately, spy photographers have not yet captured images of the Ford Edge’s interior, but photos from China have revealed a digital instrument cluster and a freestanding infotainment system that is wider than usual. The crossover also boasts a minimalist shifter and three rows of seats.

Chinese authorities have already provided information on the crossover’s dimensions, with a length of 196.9 inches (5,000 mm), a width of 77.2 inches (1,961 mm), and a height of 69.8 inches (1,773 mm), and a wheelbase of 116.1 inches (2,950 mm). By comparison, the U.S.-spec Edge is 8.1 inches (206 mm) shorter and has 3.9 inches (99 mm) less space between the wheels.

There are expected to be two powertrain options for the Edge, including a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with 249 hp (185 kW/252 PS). A hybrid variant with an output of 271 hp (202 kW/275 PS) is expected to follow a few months later.

More details on the Ford Edge are expected to emerge when it is released in China later this year. However, Americans should not get too excited as the Oakville Assembly plant is being retooled into an electric vehicle manufacturing hub. The Canadian plant is expected to produce five different models, with the first vehicle scheduled to roll off the assembly line in 2025.

2025 Ford Edge Exterior

The 2025 Ford Edge boasts a completely redesigned exterior, with sleek and modern lines that create a bold and commanding presence on the road. The new front grille is more prominent, and the LED headlights and taillights are sharper, giving the SUV a distinctive look that sets it apart from its competitors.

The 2025 Edge also comes with a panoramic sunroof, which allows for plenty of natural light and a more open feel inside the cabin.

2025 Ford Edge Interior

Inside, the 2025 Ford Edge features a spacious and comfortable cabin, with plenty of legroom and headroom for both front and rear passengers. The new interior design is more refined, with premium materials and soft-touch surfaces that add a touch of luxury to the SUV.

2025 Ford Edge: The Comfortable Experience Luxury SUV Reviews

The 2025 Edge also comes with a range of advanced features, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a premium sound system.

2025 Ford Edge Engine

Under the hood, the 2025 Ford Edge is powered by a range of advanced engines, including a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, and a hybrid powertrain. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine produces 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, while the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine produces 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

The hybrid powertrain is expected to deliver even more power and better fuel efficiency, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a more eco-friendly SUV.

2025 Ford Edge ST

The Edge lacks individuality, but the ST model aims to alter that. The engine is a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that produces 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. This reduces the 0-60-mph sprint to 6.1 seconds, but fuel consumption remains relatively unchanged at 19/25 mpg.

The Edge ST’s sport-tuned suspension, available Brembo brakes, and optional summer tires increase its potential, but there are more fun-to-drive SUVs out there.
