2027 Ford Transit is one of Ford’s best-selling commercial vans and is highly anticipated to make a comeback, with a few minor changes to keep it fresh.
The models we expect in 2027 Ford Transit and its fully electric sibling, the e-Transit are two of the most popular business cars on the road.
These improvements probably won’t generate many sales from competitors, but they should make drivers and fleet owners a little happier.
2027 Ford Transit Overview
Surely everyone is familiar with this model, the Ford Transit, which can be used for a variety of purposes, both in real life and in movies. This full-size van not only has three different roof heights, but can also be configured to carry goods, people, or a combination of both.

Buyers can also choose between naturally aspirated and twin-turbocharged V-6 engines, rear- and all-wheel drive, three wheelbases, and a variety of load capacity options.
Additionally, the Ford also boasts numerous driver-assist and convenience features that make it a reliable vehicle or perfect passenger carrier. The Transit outperforms its competitors, including the expensive Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the Ram ProMaster, which are front-wheel drive only.
What’s New
Some new things are expected to be present for the 2027 Ford Transit model, such as upgraded standard equipment such as the standard infotainment screen now measuring 12.0 inches, and equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There’s also an 8.0-inch digital gauge display. Ford has also updated its fleet management telematics capabilities, dubbed Ford Pro for Transit.
All versions now come with the Co-Pilot360 driver assistance system. Some models can be upgraded to Co-Pilot360 2.0, which adds more advanced technology such as adaptive cruise control that keeps the car centered in the lane.
What We Think
The 2027 Ford Transit is one of the most popular business vehicles on the market, and a big reason is its ease of customization. There’s a Transit for everyone, with several wheelbase options, roof heights, and two engine options. Passenger capacity can be two, twelve, or fifteen.
Now, even the most affordable 2026 Transit model is packed with technology that should make life better for drivers everywhere. Of course, all these improvements come at a cost. The price has been raised, and the 2026 Ford Transit’s suggested retail price (MSRP) is now just over $50,000. It’s a shame the smaller, less expensive Transit Connect is no longer available in the US.
That might not be a problem for fleet managers, as many already pay for data through Ford Pro accounts to monitor their fleets. We found the Transit to be a pleasure to drive. The original 275-hp V-6 engine was already plenty powerful, and the upgraded twin-turbocharged V-6 with 300 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque is even more powerful, with 140 lb-ft more torque than the standard engine.
2027 Ford Transit Van
We expect every 2027 Ford Transit model to come standard with Ford Co-Pilot360. This driver assistance package includes automatic high-beam headlights, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera with rear parking sensors.
The XLT passenger van now comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0, while the XL cargo and passenger vans can be optionally upgraded. This package includes a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centering, and blind-spot monitoring.
Remote Acceleration Limiter does what you believe: Fleet management can remotely control how fast vehicles can go.
Fleet Start Inhibit is similar to the above in that it can prevent the van from starting during certain hours.
This is pretty cool: The Delivery Assist feature, included in the Package Delivery package for cargo vans and cutaway models, automatically turns on the hazard lights and closes the windows when the van is parked. The vehicle also locks the doors when the driver gets out.

2027 Ford Transit Exterior
Now you can own a high-roof passenger vehicle with rear doors that open up to 253 degrees for easy loading. The exterior badges have been replaced with Wild Green Metallic, a new color for the fleet.
- All models now come with an 8.0-inch driver’s display.
- Previously, only certain variants had the 12.0-inch touchscreen, but now every Transit has it.
- The Ford Connectivity option includes a 5G modem and a Wi-Fi hotspot that can connect up to 10 devices.
- It is now possible to get software updates over the air.
- Vehicle Maintenance Monitors are now standard.
2027 Ford Transit Interior
The 2027 Ford Transit’s cabin is based on the Ford Explorer, though it has some van-specific features, such as large cupholders at each end of the dashboard. The seats are comfortable, the ride is smooth, and interior noise is minimized, which is good for a business van.
On some models, buyers can also remove the front passenger seat, leaving only the driver’s seat.
Some Transit passenger vans can accommodate up to 15 people across five rows. There are two seats in the front, three seats in the second, third, and fourth rows, and a bench seat for four people in the rear. This configuration is optional on the Long model, while it’s standard on the Extended model.
Load Capacity: When ordering a Transit, customers have a number of choices to make, including wheelbase length, roof height, number of seats, and cargo capacity. All of these factors affect how much cargo can be loaded inside.
To get an idea of how big this van is, consider this: With both rear rows of seats folded, the Chrysler Pacifica can hold about 141 cubic feet of cargo. The smallest Transit cargo van has twice as much space, and the largest has nearly four times as much.
Tech
Every Transit has a 12.0-inch infotainment display running Ford’s Sync 4 software. Standard features include a four-speaker audio system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, and connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. SiriusXM satellite radio and a 6- or 8-speaker audio system are also options.
- 12.0-inch touchscreen (standard) for infotainment system.
- Bluetooth and wireless are both ways to connect. Compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Audio System: A 4-speaker stereo is standard, a 6-speaker stereo is optional, and an 8-speaker stereo is also optional.
2027 Ford Transit Engine
You can get the Transit with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and two different engine options. The 3.5-liter non-turbo V-6 produces 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V-6 produces 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Both are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

We like the Transit because it has a good suspension for a van and handles well. These characteristics help keep passengers feeling refreshed after long trips.
- 275 horsepower, 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine 310 hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine
- 10-speed automatic transmission
- Drive system: all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive
2027 Ford Transit MPG
We can’t yet confirm the exact MPG figures for the 2027 Ford Transit. These large, boxy vehicles aren’t very aerodynamic and are typically heavy, meaning their fuel efficiency isn’t optimal.
Safety
The Ford Transit has many driver assistance features that can help prevent accidents.
Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.
Adaptive cruise control with lane centering, blind spot monitoring, and a 360-degree video system are some of the available safety features.
