2022 Ford Mustang Mach 1: Next Mustang Mach 1 Aggressive Aero Specs and Price
2022 Ford Mustang Mach 1 With a total of 480 horsepower and a legendary nameplate, the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is guaranteed to be a huge success for the automaker. It will also replace the Mustang Bullitt in the lineup.
Although it can’t be confirmed yet, rumors say it will take over the Mustang Shelby GT350. There is, however, one important piece of information that Ford didn’t mention when Mach 1 was announced earlier this month: how many examples it will build. All that Ford said beforehand was that it would be a limited edition model.
Muscle Cars and Trucks contacted Ford looking for a more specific answer. Mustang marketing manager Jim Owens stated the following: “On the limited edition, we did not announce the actual number we will be using.
We said it was ‘limited’, it would be a good seller, but it will still be a limited edition … it will have a chassis badge that looks like it is ‘limited’. unique and that’s how we do it. We don’t actually announce the numbers upfront. ”
Given that, it is reasonable to assume Mach 1 will be made to order. As long as there is demand, Ford will continue to build it. It was a similar situation regarding Bullitt, although Ford made it clear that anyone who wanted Bullitt would be able to get it.
The amount of Mach 1 may also depend on the status of the GT350. Ford hasn’t provided specific details regarding the 2022 Mustang lineup, but we hope that information arrives soon.
If cars can reproduce, and the Ford Mustang Bullitt and high-performance Shelby variants get together and use the tiny Marvin Gaye, the result is the new Mach 1 Mustang.
After 17 years of absence, Mach 1 returns, and is powered by a more powerful 480-hp 5.0-liter V-8, has the same ivory-white ball transfer as the Bullitt (if you opt for #SaveTheManuals), and comes with all kinds of track-upgrades. ready from the Shelby GT350 and GT500.
2022 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Specs
At Mach 1, the 5.0 liter V-8 pumps out 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque – the same output as the Steve McQueen-inspired Bullitt – and is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission from the Shelby GT350, now with rev-matching, albeit an automatic transmission.
10 speeds with paddle shifters available. During Car and Driver testing, the Bullitt only manually launched to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and drove through a quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds at 115 mph. The best part is that the manual Mach 1 comes with the same white ball shift knob as the Bullitt – a C / D staff favorite.
The Mach 1’s 5.0-liter V-8 gets some of the good stuff from the Shelby GT350, including the intake manifold, oil filter adapter, and engine oil cooler. Additionally, Mach 1 has a GT350 front and rear subframe with stiffer bushings.
It gets a few things from the 760-hp Shelby GT500 too, including a rear axle cooling system, rear leg links, and a rear diffuser – and there are four new 4.5-inch exhaust tips sticking out at the rear. Better yet, the magnetorheological damper is standard at Mach 1.
The Mach 1 bottom front vent is also taken from the Shelby GT350; The driver side cools the 5.0-liter engine while the passenger side cools the transmission.

Above it is the incandescent and turn lights, also removed from the GT350, and two large intakes are integrated into the grille that cools the engine and transmission oil. Between the air, holes are a pony badge, in a low-gloss silver finish called Magnetic, and a Mach 1 badge adorning the front fenders and rear decklid.
The standard Mach 1 vehicle uses dark painted aluminum wheels with five 19-inch spokes, which pay homage to the classic Magnum 500 style wheels from the old Mach 1, and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber.
Mach 1 comes in seven exterior color choices: Iconic Silver, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Race Red, and Grabber Yellow. Black-satin vinyl sides and hood trim can be trimmed in red or white.
Ford is offering a display package for the new Mach 1 that only comes in Fighter Jet Gray, and has lots of orange accents. The satin black sides and hood stripes have the Appearance package – exclusive orange trim, orange Brembo brakes, and the seats have orange bars sewn on the back. In our opinion, grays and oranges look best when combined with the complete Handling package.
Wannabe Carroll Shelbys who want the most aggressive and capable Mach 1 can opt for the Manual-only Handling package, which includes exclusive 10.5- / 11-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, adjustable front mount top mounts, and a splitter.
Front with higher downforce, and a swinging rear spoiler with Gurney flaps from the GT500. Ford claims that the upgraded Handling package, along with the new Mach 1 belly – which is 20 inches longer than the Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 1 pan – delivers Mach 150 percent more pressure than the Mustang PPL1.
