And it has been known by the general public that the S650 Mustang type will be the seventh generation of the legendary Ford Mustang nameplate.
The future muscle car is expected to debut in early 2022 as the model year 2023 vehicle and expects to continue its mission of leading innovation in the muscle car category in 2024 (although possible COVID and semiconductor shortages have pushed this timeline further than originally planned).
The S650 generation is expected to be the last Mustang to be powered by an internal combustion engine.
2024 Ford Mustang Preview
For starters, the S650 “could” be available with all-wheel drive, as Ford Authority reported last spring. The 2024 Mustang hybrid has also long been expected to join the pony car lineup.
But AN gave us time for the model for the first time, saying that an electrified version would be launched in 2025.
The 2024 Mustang will continue to be made at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant and is expected to have an eight-year life cycle, as Ford Authority reported last August, which will match the lifespan of the S550 generation.
The 2024 Mustang is expected to launch in 2023 for the 2024 model year if there are no changes in its workmanship. In terms of powertrains, major changes are not to be expected from the current model and as Ford Authority reported in May, the good old-fashioned V8 engine isn’t going away anytime soon either.
However, it should also come as no surprise that an all-electric Mustang is expected at some point in the future perhaps as fast as 2028 for the 2029 model year, as rumors suggest.

2024 Ford Mustang Report
It seems like just a moment ago we were all excited about the return of the Ford Mustang Mach 1, but the auto industry has always been fluid and never idle. As great as the American pony is, we’re already looking ahead to the next generation, and the moment is getting closer.
We got a bit of information on what to expect. Of course, the introduction of the Mustang Mach-E has proven that the meaning of the name Mustang continues to evolve. According to reports, the 2023 Mustang can drive all four wheels.
The current Mustang S550 will feature a hybrid system before Jim Hacket becomes CEO. The priority was to bring the Mustang EV to market, and know that this has been achieved, the next-generation S650 will return to the goal of hybridization.
With EV power at the front, this will only work when the rear wheels lose traction, and the system may offer torque vectoring as well.
Along with the obvious performance benefits, the introduction of electrification will improve fuel economy as well. It won’t be too expensive to develop either, as the next Mustang will likely be based on the CD6 platform that underpins the Explorer and Lincoln Aviator, both of which use electric versions.
Of course, this decision could infuriate fans of the Mustang brand almost as much as the decision to apply the Mustang name to an electric SUV. However, those who have driven the Mach-E have been blown away, and the Mustang’s AWD coupe will likely impress as well.
Furthermore, Ford is not suggesting that the S650 will be a hybrid only, so there are still a few petrol-only variants. Whatever the range, there’s no doubt that the addition of AWD will help the Mustang stay competitive against its European rivals, and the lower fuel economy figures will help keep the legendary nameplate alive for years to come.

Based on the current S550 Mustang GT, this prototype wears light camouflage on the front along with various parts from the current Mustang variants: the lower splitter and side skirts of the new Mach 1, dual tailpipe exhausts are an option on the GT and EcoBoost models, while the wheels are from Mach 1 Handling Pack.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this test mule is the implementation of the rear brakes: while the “standard” Mustang GT has small rear calipers mounted on the “rear” rotor, this mule places much larger calipers at the “front”. the end of the rotor, with the little parking brake at the “back”.
This configuration is not seen on any Mustang S550 model or variant with this new brake setting can be attributed to AWD, as similar brake settings can be seen on the Charger GT AWD, BMW M850i, Infiniti Q50 Red Sport, and others.
A set of wires entering the cab from each wheel suggests data collection. And based on the engine and exhaust notes we heard while shooting, this model may have a 5.0L Coyote V8 under the hood.
2024 Ford Mustang S650 Design
Talking about the design of the seventh generation Ford Mustang is expected to develop gradually from the S550 generation that we see today. This implies that the signature clustered taillights inspired by the original Mustang will remain, linking the ever-expanding family of Mustang-branded vehicles (such as the Mach-E electric SUV) with a unified design language.
2024 Ford Mustang Interior
In terms of interior improvements, the Ford Mustang S650 is expected to be more in lines with the times, such as a larger infotainment screen, a configurable digital instrument panel display, improved ergonomics for larger phones, and drinks, and increased material usage.
The Ford Mustang S650 is expected to continue its traditional 2+2 layout. This means it will continue to be a dashing coupe, with two front seats, and two small rear seats for kids or cargo.
Ford Mustang 2024 Hybrid
Reporting from an online media Carexpert said that the new Ford Mustang is reported to be coming soon, and will get a hybrid powertrain option. Automotive News reports that the new Mustang, codenamed S650, will arrive for the 2023 model year. That suggests it will debut in 2022. But it remains a mystery for 2024 whether there is a hybrid option that will also hit the muscle car market.
The news came from a meeting in Dallas – Texas between Ford executives and a large group of dealers where executives shared Ford’s product plans.
At this meeting talk about a hybrid model reportedly slated for 2025, though it’s unclear if this will be a series of plug-in hybrid and what engines will be mated.
It is also reported that the S650 will have an eight-year life cycle, roughly the same as the previous two generations. The platform won’t change much compared to the current S550, which goes into production in 2014.
Outlets in the United States are reporting that the Mustang is getting an all-wheel-drive option. This will be a first for the Mustang. Of the two arch-rivals in America, the Chevrolet Camaro, and Dodge Challenger, only the latter offers all-wheel drive and is based solely on a V6 type engine.
Neither the Camaro nor the Challenger has a hybrid option, and the Camaro could end production in 2024. It could indirectly be replaced by an electric sports sedan. Ford’s embrace of hybrids is different from GM’s, which has moved away from technology it sees as a temporary replacement.
The Dodge car has a plug-in hybrid coming in 2022, but it’s rumored to be a crossover. The main action for the brand’s electrification efforts is a seductive electric muscle car, set for a 2024 launch.
Ford is currently offering the Mustang with a choice of a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine and a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine, with a naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 being sold elsewhere in 2017.
In Australia, the High Performance four-cylinder produces 236kW of power and 448Nm of torque, while the V8 produces 339kW and 556Nm in the GT and 345kW and 556Nm at Mach 1.
Automotive News reports that the Mustang isn’t the only Ford iconic signboard to adopt electrification. Like the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, the Bronco, Bronco Sport, and Explorer are unconfirmed vehicles for Australia.
It’s unclear whether the Mustang Hybrid will be a different story. The Ford pony has proven to be Australia’s best-selling vehicle in the VFACTS sports car category. This year Ford has sold 1934 Mustangs, more than the cheaper Focus (611) and Escape (1224).
Incidentally, it was also in front of the Kia Stinger (1025) plus another raft of passenger cars. No sports car came close. The two-door Mercedes-Benz C-Class range returns with 770 sales, the two-door BMW 4 Series with 690 sales, and the Mazda MX-5 sit at 507.
Ford Mustang 2024 Engine
Of course, official details about the Ford Mustang S650 engine are currently missing. However, with the Ford Motor Company funneling billions of dollars into electric vehicle development, there is little room for automakers to develop new engines for future pony cars.
We, therefore, have high hopes that the Ford Mustang 2024 will continue to offer the 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder, as well as the 5.0L Coyote V8 for the base level and GT trims.
Equipped with the 5.2L Predator V8 found in the current Mustang GT500 S550 with 760 horsepower is expected to continue to top. Electrification is rumored to occur for several variants.
A rumored 6.8L V8 to be built in Ontario was rumored by Canadian union president Jerry Dias for the S650 Mustang, but Ford has yet to confirm this. The high displacement 7.3L V8 Godzilla engine will also be a welcome addition to the Mustang family, but this is only speculation.

However, most likely the S650 Mustang will use the latest version of the Ford Mustang. the S550 platform, which means it will be a more gradual evolution of the muscle car than in previous years.
That implies that there will be plenty of room for a large V8 engine, integrated independent rear suspension, a long bonnet, and a roofline that tapers towards the rear.
The latest magnetic driving control technology can be found on the high-end Mustang S650, while a new electric architecture is also expected here.
It is not clear whether the ECU and/or TCU will be encrypted for cybersecurity purposes, which would lock out would-be tuners from modifying any calibrations.
All-wheel-drive is speculated for the next-generation Ford Mustang as an option, but if the S650 platform is similar to the S550 in many ways, then it’s unlikely. If the next-generation Mustang uses the Ford CD6 platform, then AWD is more likely.
2024 Ford Mustang S650 Price
The seventh-generation Ford Mustang pricing notice is far from official, but will likely see an increase in the base MSRP compared to the current sixth-generation Mustang S550.
Following market trends, the S650 Mustang is expected to have more options, technologies, and packages at higher trim levels which in turn will push the price higher.
Nonetheless, the Ford Mustang 2024 will continue to be marketed as iconic because of its performance capabilities relative to how much customers have to pay for more expensive imported vehicles with similar capabilities.
2024 Ford Mustang Release Date: Future Ford Mustang Production
We assume the 2024 Ford Mustang onwards is expected to be built at Flat Rock Assembly, in Michigan, possibly with a $250 million renovation. The Mustang S550 is currently being built there. Production of the next-generation Ford Mustang is estimated at less than 100,000 units per year.
An Automotive News report suggests that the S650 Ford Mustang will have a life cycle of up to eight years, with a refresh sometime in 2025.
This will improve the S650 Mustang with the next decade, forecasters predict that the Mustang will be fully electric as early as 2028.
