2023 Ford Fusion: What We Know So Far!

Posted on

2023 Ford Fusion From reliable sources we find that Ford Engineers in the United States have been seen carrying test mules for high-riding mid-sized wagons. Think soft-roaders to challenge the Subaru Outback and Buick Regal TourX.

It is very interesting to argue, although it is not certain yet, the soft-roader is expected to replace the Ford Fusion sedan soon after its launch next year.

Remember, the Mustang will be the only non-SUV, pickup truck, or pickup truck in Ford’s North American lineup over the next decade.

2023 Ford Fusion Rumors

There are rumors that Ford is planning to retain the Fusion name or variations used here, so don’t be surprised if the mysterious vehicle is tagged as something like Fusion Active. The definition of active is what Ford uses in foreign soft road vehicle models such as the Fiesta Active and Focus Active. Ford had planned to import the Focus Active from China, but the trade war stopped it.

For the test vehicle, the engineers used a flexible body borrowed from the Focus Wagon sold overseas. The basics are considered Ford’s latest version of the CD4 platform for mid-sized cars, making its debut at Fusion today. This means there is potential for front and all-wheel drive, as well as plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Active the Active is not a major upgrade for Ford as the company has long offered a traditional wagon variant of Fusion’s European clone Mondeo. When you take this model as a base, think of the Active as the long-roof version of Subaru’s mid-size all-wheel drive, slightly raised suspension.

An alternative could be the compact version of the C2 platform, which was last released on Focus last year. This could explain why technicians were using the extended Focus Wagon body for the test vehicle instead of the larger Mondeo Wagon. Mondeo is the name Fusion uses outside of North America today.

Since we are only at the testing stage, it may take six months or more for the prototypes to arrive. This means that any disclosures are likely not to occur until 2021, which refers to the upcoming soft-roader as the 2023 model.

Note, while the Fusion sedan will die soon in the US, it is expected to continue being sold elsewhere. The updated stylized version is expected to launch overseas in 2020.

2023 Ford Fusion Report

Don’t get confused with the high-top hatchback for Europe, the Fusion that Ford launched in 2005 for the US market is fine. Not the best sedan in the mid-size segment, but not the worst either. This type of body style, however, fell out of favor with North American customers because of SUVs and pickup trucks.

2023 Ford Fusion

Let’s see the sales? 166,045 units were sold in 2019, down to 173,600 and 209,623 units in 2018 and 2017. Previously, Ford had sold more than 300,000 copies in the United States alone. Fusion is no longer in production at the time of writing, along with the Lincoln MKZ and even the full-size Continental, as past commercial success has turned into minor failures.

Don’t worry, because Fusion will return in 2021 as the model year 2023 to rival the Subaru Outback station wagon with all-wheel drive and lift the suspension. Coded by the Blue Oval, the CD542, Fusion Active’s rear suspension will consist of leaf springs rather than more modern coils.

At first glance, it may seem like a decline in quality, but remember that the sheets are heavier than the roll. The heaviest full-size vans use them and likely Maverick will borrow this suspension design to challenge the single-body van, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Volkswagen Tarok.

The question is, what will Fusion look like if Ford continues to use the sedan option? Kleber Silva offers the answer in the form of speculative visuals, Peugeot-like LED signatures for the headlights, and Jaguar-Esque taillights that borrow some from the Explorer at the front. Brazilian pixel artists have also done wonders with exhaust designs and window trims, as well as removable door handles.

However, pay close attention to the rendering. Are you really considering a more suitable car in the rental fleet than the Escape or Explorer? Or better said, are you going to raise the $ 23,170 before destination cost on the Fusion over a proper mid-size sedan like the Camry or Accord priced at $ 1,000 more?

2023 Ford Fusion Interior

Seeing the interior design that has improved from before. The 2023 Ford Fusion this time around, the Fusion Active’s passenger space and cargo volume is a total mystery. We hope that the style reflects newer Ford products such as the all-electric Mach-E Mustang crossover and the mid-size Explorer SUV.

The model suggests a fully digital meter cluster, a vertically oriented center screen, and versatile interior cubby storage. We also expect the Fusion Active to provide comfortable rear seats and plenty of cargo space to compete with the Outback and Regal TourX.

The latest version of the Ford Sync infotainment system should be included in the upcoming Fusion Active. We expect Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-enabled touchscreens to be standard or optional. Additionally, built-in navigation and Wi-Fi hotspots will likely be on the list of options. Ford usually also offers an upgraded sound system.

2023 Ford Fusion Engine

If we talk about the Ford Fusion 2023 engine so far without any official details about the engines and transmission options that will be offered in the Fusion Active, we can only speculate about the possibilities. One thing we can almost guarantee is that all-wheel drive will be offered.

There are also rumors that Ford will offer a hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrain in the wagon. The two boosted settings may be the same or similar to those driving the Escape’s compact crossover. This means a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors.

The Fusion Active can also inherit Escape’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic transmission, which uses only 250 hp turbocharged petrol. We won’t know anything about the wagon’s performance or how to use it until we get behind the wheel.

We have nothing to report on fuel economy ratings, as we have no information about which powertrain can be used in Fusion Active. We’ll update this section after the EPA estimates are released, and we’ll eventually test these figures on our real-world highway routes.

2023 Ford Fusion Price

According to our estimates, the 2023 Ford Fusion should range in price from $ 40,000 to $ 50,000 when Active hits dealerships next year. However, this is not official information, but we believe the price shift is not too far from our estimates.
