2024 Ford Raptor: Next-Generation Ford Raptor Truck Review

Posted on

2024 Ford Raptor was previously revealed with twin-turbo V6 petrol As widely speculated, the new model is powered by the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine as the Ford Explorer ST performance SUV in the US.

This version of the engine has been developed uniquely for the Ford Ranger Raptor and is equipped with anti-lag technology. This technology keeps the turbo running for up to three seconds even after the throttle is lifted for instant response in performance mode.

Ford has finally answered the call for more power with an output of 292kW/583Nm, which was criticized for underpowering the 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder (157kW/500Nm) diesel in the 2018 Ford Ranger.

These numbers will make the Ford Ranger Raptor once again the fastest and most powerful vehicle in its class. Performance figures are expected to hit 0 to 100 km/h in under 7.5 seconds thanks to epic power and a 10-speed automatic. It might even fit into a six-second bracket even though it weighs an estimated 2.4 tons.

The Volkswagen Amarok turbo diesel V6 with an eight-speed automatic does 0 to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds in comparison to one of them. For now, it seems that Ford has no plans to introduce a new generation of Ranger Raptor diesel, but it is also possible that there will be a new version.

The claimed maximum output is rated using premium unleaded 98 octanes; The Ford Ranger Raptor’s new twin-turbo V6 petrol takes a premium of at least 95 octanes unleaded.

2024 Ford Raptor Review

It is a relative of the larger Ford F-150 Raptor and resembles the Ford Bronco Raptor, but may not be as intense as either. The Ford Ranger Raptor is expected to be a unique trim of its own, although it may also be available as a package.

2024 Ford Raptor 1

Similar to previously spotted Ranger Raptor trucks, this one has recognizable design elements including flared wheel arches, a front grille with the “Ford” name, C-clamp headlights, matrix LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, functional air vents, cast-aluminum side steps, LED taillights, and distinct 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires.

Unlike one prototype that had the “Raptor” graphic on the rear of the bedsides, this Ranger Raptor does not have it. The interior of the new pickup has front sport seats, Code Orange accents, a 12.4-inch all-digital cluster, and a vertically-oriented 12-inch center touchscreen with Sync 4A.

The new Ranger Raptor has the Ford 3.0L V6 EcoBoost with twin turbocharging, which generates 392 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque in every market except Europe, where it produces 284 horsepower and 362 pound-feet, and Argentina, where it generates 397 horsepower.

The mid-size off-road vehicle is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission in all markets.

For approximately five years now, fans of pickup trucks have been eagerly waiting for the global Ranger Raptor to become available in the United States.

Fortunately, the Raptor name, which originated from Ford’s SVT division and was first used on 2010 F-150, is now being applied to the 2024 Ranger mid-size truck. This marks the first time that the Ranger Raptor is available in the United States.

Pictures that appear credible and are included in this article show a prototype of the Cactus Gray Ranger Raptor being produced at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant. The prototype looks remarkably similar to the new overseas Ranger Raptor, indicating that we can expect the U.S. version to be very similar.

The Ranger Raptor has features such as prominent fenders, black arch extensions, a grille with the “FORD” logo, and twin exhaust pipes that meet the expectations of the U.S. market. Additionally, the similarity suggests that the regular Ranger model that we have not yet seen may also look like the global Ranger.

This is logical because the new global Ranger was developed with the U.S. market in mind, so it is feasible that the Ranger we will receive will be nearly identical to the global version.

It is anticipated that the Ranger Raptor in the United States will have a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 engine that is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, similar to the powertrain found in the overseas version.

In Europe, this engine generates 284 horsepower and 362 lb-ft of torque, while in Australia it is tuned to produce 392 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It remains to be seen whether the U.S. version will surpass the Australian specifications.

The U.S. version of the Ranger Raptor is anticipated to feature full-time four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, selectable terrain modes, and front and rear differential lockers.

The suspension components are expected to be similar to those used in the overseas model, with aluminum control arms in the front, a live axle with a Watt’s link in the rear, and Fox 2.5-inch Live Valve internal bypass shocks.

To accommodate the off-road capabilities, the Ranger Raptor will likely have a reinforced chassis with strengthened suspension mounts and extra frame bracing around critical areas. Additionally, it is expected to have the same extensive skid plate protection as the overseas Ranger Raptor, as well as 17-inch wheels and 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires.

Interior

Based on the leaked images, it appears that the interior of the U.S. Ford Ranger Raptor is similar to the overseas model, featuring bright Code Orange accents, a sporty Raptor steering wheel, bolstered sport seats, a 12.4-inch digital cluster, and a vertically oriented 12.0-inch touchscreen.

Ford Raptor 2024 Features

Like the rest of the Ford Ranger lineup, the Raptor gets several safety and technology upgrades – such as blind spot warning and rear traffic warning. And the new Raptor will also get radar cruise control, a feature that the previous model didn’t have.

Other Good News Ford Ranger Raptor is also expected to have a sophisticated 4-wheel drive system and can also switch to two-wheel drive to all wheels to provide stability in the journey of good grip, especially during wet weather.

The outgoing Ford Ranger Raptor can only be operated with two-wheel drive on closed roads, making it uncertain on wet roads thanks to the rugged off-road rubber.

The highly regarded BF Goodrich KO2 tires are carried over from before but have been adjusted to fit the new “adaptive” Fox shock absorbers.

2024 Ford Raptor Specs

As a good specification using familiar suspension geometries such as:

  • Rear Wattage
  • Fox 2.5-inch (64mm) shock absorbers
  • 33-inch (838mm) BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tires
  • along with coil springs and disc brakes (carryover) all around

The Ford Ranger Raptor is very promising to be a more powerful four-wheel drive vehicle.

The upcoming 17-inch wheels are off-road friendly and Ford is introducing optional Beadlock-capable wheels for hardcore enthusiasts who want to run ultra-low tire pressure off-road. Using this wheel and the Ford Performance lock ring the outer bead can be locked mechanically to the wheel.

However, wheels can only be used off-road in this disguise, as the such arrangement of wheels and tires is illegal – with the outer bead mechanically locked to the wheel – on public roads in Australia.

Purchased optional wheels also come in Beadlock-capable for use on long highways using standard and geared wheels.

While the new Fox shock absorbers have the same 2.5-inch external diameter and internal bypass as the Ranger Raptor, Fox’s Live Valve technology is now used. These adaptive shock absorbers are present in high-performance luxury cars to further enhance off-road capabilities.

As we know the Ford Raptor also has a towing capacity of 2500 kg which is very similar to the current state of the vehicle 1 ton less than the regular Ford Ranger and more than most of the other twin cabins in its class. Indeed so far we can’t be sure of knowing the exact payload but we highly expect it to be similar to 750 kg for the current model.

The new generation Ranger Raptor will get two tow hooks on each end for off-road use. Having two points means users can share the load at each point, using an equalizer strap.

2024 Ford Raptor Dimension

Speaking of dimensions the Ford Ranger Raptor can take the same 50 mm axle distance extension as the rest of the Ranger family which can be achieved by shifting the front wheels forward.

The wheel track is the same at 1710mm although the normal track is increased by 50 mm for the new generation. It can be concluded that in the Latest generation, the Ford Ranger is very aggressive and the width of the current generation model car due to the difference between the two cars is about 50 mm to 100 mm.

The length, width, and overall height of the Ford Ranger Raptor seem to be the same as the previous version.

On the inside, special upgrades to the Ford Ranger Raptor include a 12-inch touchscreen with 12.4-inch instruments featuring a special raptor-style look and unique fighter-inspired seats with orange code accents.

Ford Raptor Engine 2024

While we now know for sure what’s under the hood of the new Ford Ranger Raptor, its consumption remains predictable until Ford releases official lab test figures.

2024 Ford Raptor

It’s safe to assume that the new model will use more fuel than the current-generation diesel-powered Ranger Raptor.

The twin-turbo petrol V6 peak power and torque figures are achieved when running on 98RON fuel, but the V6 Ranger Raptor has the minimum recommended octane rating for 95RON petrol.

It can run at 95 premium unleaded because, for now, examples sold in Australia will not be equipped with a gasoline particulate (PPF) filter.

The Petrol V6 Ranger Raptor will be equipped with a gasoline particulate filter (PPF) in other countries. At the same time, some regions will offer the new Ranger Raptor with a smaller, less powerful 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine from 2023 onwards.

2024 Ford Raptor Price

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but the new model is expected to cost a bit more than today’s version which is priced at $62,000

2024 Ford Raptor Release Date

The next-generation Ford Ranger Raptor is expected to arrive in Australia at the end of next year and production to start in the Summer of 2023.
