2026 Ford Bronco SUV Highs All-Terrain Capability Reviews

Posted on

2026 Ford Bronco: It seems like Ford just brought back the Bronco. But it’s been five years (kids grow up so fast!), and the Bronco is way past due for a new look by most vehicle age standards. That means that 2026 could be a very important year for this tough off-roader.

Update (November 12, 2025): We’ve just updated the latest details on the rugged 2026 Ford Bronco, built to conquer the wild. Its 330-hp 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 pairs with a smooth 10-speed automatic, while the cabin offers a spacious, comfortable feel. Pricing starts around $41,000.

The Ford Bronco is a boxy Jeep Wrangler competitor that can seat five people and comes in a range of trim levels, from rough on-paved roads to harsh off-road.

The Bronco can handle anything from driving on unpaved roads to crawling over boulders. Ford has a lot of hardware and accessories that can help you do practically anything off-road.

The Big Bend, which is the regular Bronco, will cheerfully transport you to wilderness campsites and drive on paved roads. But if you want something more difficult, you may choose the Sasquatch package, which comes with great off-road gear. You can also get the Bronco Raptor, which is great for recreating your own Baja 500 adventure.

2026 Ford Bronco Reviews

The newest version of the 2026 Ford Bronco SUV is highly tough and can go deep into the wild. When you take off the roof and doors, you’ll feel as free and carefree as a wild horse when you race through the woods or jump over the sand dunes.

2026 Ford Bronco

This SUV is easy to drive, though, and it won’t wobble unless you slam on the brakes or forget to turn off all-wheel drive. The Jeep Wrangler is its biggest competitor, but this car is considerably more comfortable on the road.

The 2026 Ford Bronco comes with a 300-hp turbo-four engine and a 330-hp twin-turbo V6 engine. It also has a manual transmission (only with the four-cylinder engine) and other packages that add off-road gear and overlanding features.

The inside is practical, but it has too much wind noise and is hard to change. On the other hand, it’s modern, very comfortable, and has a lot of space. And who doesn’t love the outside.

  • The Ford Bronco Raptor (reviewed separately) is the best stallion out there. It has
  • 418 horsepower and all the off-road gear you could want.
  • Great for going off-road
  • Great steering and comfort on the road
  • Useful tech features for off-roading and a lot of ways to make it your own

What’s New

Ford is making a red and white 60th Anniversary edition of the Bronco to mark its 60th anniversary. The Sasquatch-themed Outer Banks inspired the model. It has big Bronco logos and “60” insignia on several parts of the outside and inside.

What We Expect

A retro-style Free Wheeling trim joins the Bronco lineup for 2025. It’s based on the entry-level Big Bend model and finished with 1970s-inspired multi-colored stripes on the body sides. The Sasquatch off-road package on this model includes high-clearance fender flares, a raised suspension, mud-terrain tires, and upgraded Bilstein shock absorbers.

2026 Ford Bronco Sport

2026 Ford Bronco is expected to have a new two-or four-door concept, a soft top or hardtop, and removable doors and roof panels. The 2025 Ford Bronco SUV is one of the best concept cars for enjoying the outdoors.

2026 Ford Bronco SUV

The Ford Bronco 2026 has a 300 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard, and the powerful Bronco Raptor model has a 330 hp twin-turbo V-6 as an option.

The 2026 Ford Bronco has a 10-speed automatic transmission for both engines, but a seven-speed manual is offered with the four-banger.

The base model can undoubtedly take on the trail, but higher-end trims add desirable off-road equipment for more serious adventures.

Additionally, there is the 2026 Ford Bronco. Noteworthy options include 35-inch mud-terrain tires, bead-lock capable wheels, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and a sway bar disconnect feature.

Due to its reliability, the Ford Bronco 2026  has earned the best place on everyone’s Choice list.

2026 Ford Bronco Interior

Even though there is a lot of wind noise, the front seats are comfy and spacious, so our tallest staff members had almost no complaints (see our long-term Bronco test).

The cabin is full of harsh plastics, which we know Ford utilizes since they don’t feel like five-star materials. This is a sturdy convertible since the doors and roof can be taken off, and the components won’t break. Ford also has rubber flooring and marine-grade vinyl upholstery for people who will be inside a lot and exposed to the weather.

The four-passenger, two-door Bronco provides enough room in the back for two adults to sit comfortably. The second row of the four-door Bronco has three seats and a lot more legroom.

The cargo compartment in the four-door is bigger than the two-door’s and can hold all of the SUV’s removable doors. To go home with the two-door Bronco’s doors off, you’ll need to drop the back seats.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Ford’s latest Sync 4 in-dash software supports a 12.0-inch touchscreen embedded in the center of the 2026 Ford Bronco’s dashboard, which will be a highlight. This setup allows over-the-air updates and can wirelessly connect to the cloud and the user’s smartphone.

The Ford Bronco 2026 also has an infotainment system that supports several modern features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. The unit can also be upgraded with desirable options like built-in navigation and a more powerful B&O stereo.

Cargo

The Bronco is bigger than the Wrangler, so it has more room inside and more space for cargo. The Bronco’s rear swing doors open to the passenger side and are kept in place by struts. The rear window on hardtop versions folds down easily, but the softtop doesn’t open as wide and needs a support bar to stay up.

There are enough places to store things inside, with plenty of cupholders and space for personal goods. The Raptor is the only variant of the Bronco that can tow more than 3,500 pounds. Most versions can tow up to 3,500 pounds. That’s adequate for a small trailer, but it’s not as much as the Jeep Wrangler or Toyota 4Runner can pull, or even the VW Atlas Cross Sport and Honda Passport, which are crossover competitors.

Tech

In the middle of the dashboard is a 12.0-inch touchscreen that runs Ford’s Sync 4 software. This screen can get updates over the air and lets users connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remotely. A lot of Broncos come with built-in navigation, and some have sound systems that are better than the usual seven-speaker arrangement.

  • Touchscreen for infotainment: 12.0 inches
  • Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all wireless connections that work with this device.
  • Audio System: 7-speaker stereo is standard, and 12-speaker B&O stereo is available as an option.

2026 Ford Bronco Engine

The 330-hp, twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 engine works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. If you like manual transmissions, you can also have a 4-speed manual transmission. Sadly, neither engine makes a very loud noise.

2026 Ford Bronco SUV

This is a real off-road vehicle. The driver must turn on the all-wheel-drive system while going off-road and, more crucially, turn it off when going back to regular roads. The Bronco has an independent front suspension and well-calibrated steering, which make it a good choice for everyday driving.

The Ford’s steering is more accurate than the Jeep Wrangler’s, which has live axles at both ends. The Ford also handles better overall and doesn’t need regular steering corrections on the highway, which are so taxing on the Jeep.

Some of the best features are big 35-inch mud-terrain tires, wheels with beadlock, electronic front and rear locking differentials, and an anti-roll bar disconnect mechanism that lets the wheels move farther.

  • Engines: a 2.3-liter four-cylinder with 300 hp and a 2.7-liter V-6 with 330 hp and two turbochargers
  • There are 7-speed manual and 10-speed automatic transmissions.
  • Four-wheel drive is the drive system.

2026 Ford Bronco 0-60 MPH Time

Previous tests on the Bronco version of the twin-turbo V-6 model provided the fastest acceleration times. The Wildtrak model with that engine and 10-speed automatic reaches 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, while the Everglades trim with the turbo four and automatic takes 7.1 seconds.

2026 Ford Bronco Payload

We estimate the 2026 Ford Bronco’s maximum towing capacity is 3500 pounds. This number is equal to that of the Jeep Wrangler but less than that of other rivals, such as the Toyota 4Runner.

2026 Ford Bronco MPG

The EPA hasn’t given out fuel economy numbers for the 2026 Ford Bronco yet, but they probably won’t change. The 2025 Bronco is expected to get the best gas mileage, with 18 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. It has an automated transmission and a four-cylinder engine. The owner’s manual says that those fuel economy numbers are 1 mpg lower.

The six-cylinder engine in the Outer Banks is the most fuel-efficient Bronco for city driving, getting about 19 miles per gallon. On the interstate, it only gets 21 miles per gallon. With the Sasquatch package, though, this SUV’s gas mileage is well below average.

Based on what we saw while driving the automatic Bronco on a fuel economy route at 75 mph, these ratings are right on: Go to the EPA website for more information about the Bronco’s gas mileage.

  • C/D Fuel Consumption Test at 75 mph On the highway, the turbo-four-cylinder with an automatic transmission gets 22 mpg, the turbo-four-cylinder with a 7-speed manual transmission gets 19 mpg, and the twin-turbo V-6 gets 18 mpg.
  • EPA City Rating: 17 to 19 miles per gallon
  • EPA Highway Rating: 18 to 21 miles per gallon

2026 Ford Bronco

Competitor

The Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler are natural rivals. The Jeep Gladiator is another option. It’s basically a Wrangler with a pickup truck bed. The Toyota 4Runner was also extensively overhauled for 2025. And if you don’t have a lot of money but want something nicer, operators are ready to take your Land Cruiser order.

2026 Ford Bronco Models

There are six primary trims of the Ford Bronco, which is a four-wheel drive SUV. There are six basic trims: Base, Big Bend, Heritage Edition, Outer Banks, Badlands, and Raptor. These trims are listed in order of price.

You can add a lot of different choices to all Broncos, such as different roof styles, off-road gear, wheels, and other extras. Read on to find out what the most essential standard and optional features of the Bronco are.

At this point, Ford hasn’t said anything official about the 2026 Bronco. If anything changes, we’ll revise our recommendation. Based on last year’s Bronco, we think the Big Bend is the best choice.

This is the entry-level trim, which is one step up from the base model. It comes with options from the Mid package, like heated front seats and GPS. The Big Bend also comes with a full-size spare tire, which is helpful if you plan to travel off-road. You can also get the Sasquatch off-road kit, which makes the car even tougher.

2026 Ford Bronco Price

The price of the 2026 Ford Bronco ranges from $42,490 to $71,990, depending on the trim and options. The newest Bronco is a great-looking SUV that can go off-road better than most owners need it to.

We enjoy the two-door model’s looks and the fact that the back seats are useable, but the trim options are limited and can be a pain for parents with little kids in the back.

ModelsPricing (MSRP)
Base$40,890
Big Bend$43,265
Free Wheeling$47,760
Black Diamond$47,760
Outer Banks$50,835
Heritage Edition$52,370
Badlands$52,990
Sroppe Edition$78,530

Verdict

The all-new 2026 Ford Bronco is a traditional SUV with many strengths, including potential off-road capabilities and various configurations.

However, its main drawbacks are poor fuel economy and excessive highway wind noise. We’ll be back soon with more on the 2026 Ford Bronco, so bookmark our website to stay updated with the latest Ford F-Series news, Ford Bronco news, and information on other Ford models on the road.
